11 things about Bukky Ajayi that you should not forget

Another legend was lost today in the Nigerian film industry as veteran actress Bukky Ajayi passed on today July 6, 2016. According to the Punch, the 82 year old actress died this morning.
Here are 11 things to know about Bukky Ajayi : 
  1. She was born on  February 2, 1934
  2. She was abroad for six years, as a Federal government scholar
  3. Bukky Ajayi studied acting at Stanislavsky Institute of Drama, London.
  4. She worked in Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) as a presentation assistant in 1966 under Dr. Christopher Kolade
  5. She became a presenter and then a news reader later on.
  6. She started acting career with the ‘Village Headmaster’ in the 70’s, and she later got a role in Amaka Igwe’s ‘Checkmate’.
  7. She converted to Islam in the early  80s and choose the name Zainab.
  8. Shooting of international film Critical Assignment in South Africa, is one of the events of her life that she will never forget.
  9. She was given the Industry Merit Award at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards  (AMVCA)
  10. She featured in the Nollywood film Mother of George (2013) directed by Andrew Dosunmu which premièred in the U.S. Dramatic Competition,   Indecent Girl (2004) and Witches (1998), among many others
  11. She’s Jazzman Olofin’s grandmother-In-law.
