17 STARS SET FOR THE MUSIC TREK: 2Face, M.I, Wizkid, Davido return by popular demand


Multiple award-winning singer, 2Face Innocent Idibia will lead 16 other superstar entertainers to 10 cities across Nigeria for the 2014 edition of Star Music Trek, the biggest music carnival-like concert in Africa, which runs from March 29 to May 31.

Apart from African Queen crooner, superstars like MI, Wizkid and Davido made the list by popular demand. While vivacious singer, Tiwa Savage, returned as the only female artiste. This year’s Star Trek will feature raves of the moment who are rocking the industry with their hottest singles.

The star-studded line-up also include  Olamide, Wande Coal, Sound Sultan, Mr. Raw, Dr Sid, Naeto C, KCee, Sean Tizzle, Phyno and MayD and fuji musician, Wasiu Alabi, popularly known as Pasuma Wonder, who replaced Obesere.

Music pundits across the cities have the opportunity to meet one of Nigeria’s favourite comedians and a compere of repute, Gbenga Adeyinka alongside fast rising comedian, Laff Up and newly introduced Do2tun of CoolFM. To add more spices to fun, the organisers, Nigerian Breweries Plc., have invited DJ Neptune and DJ Blaise to join DJ Switch, as official DJs for The Trek.

The 17 artistes were revealed to an exclusive audience comprising celebrities, members of the press and officials of the brand at a suspense filled sign on press conference, held at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on March 19, 2014.

The press conference was preceded by the popular, My City Rocks campaign which made artistes and celebrities commenting on what made their cities so special and unique. Excited fans all over the country engaged in the interactive campaign on electronic and online media where they also got an opportunity to guess the artistes on this year’s line-up.

“Our theme, My City Rocks, is inspired by the uniqueness of the many cities in Nigeria. Young Nigerians have connected to these special traits in a unique way as only they can and have made this campaign all the more spectacularly engaging right from the very beginning,” says Corporate Media and Brand PR Manager, Edem Vindah.

“We’re just as eager as our teeming fans as we commence Star Music Trek 2014. As usual, we’ll be taking the brightest and best of Nigerian music and artistes all across the country and can assure our fans that this year’s Trek will be filled with spectacular surprises”, he added.

The stars have promised music buffs best of the best songs and performances, like Dr. Sid, whose latest single, Surulere, is making wavs, excited to be listed, said, “My fans should expect the best music.”

Also, rapper MI thanked the organisers for the opportunity to perform in this year’s show, vowed not to disappoint his teeming fans.

“We’ll shutdown everywhere, Lagos, Benin, Ado-Ekiti, and other cities”, Badoo, as Olamide is fondly called told ENCOMIUM Weekly, adding that, “You guys should expect the unexpected.”

When Limpopo crooner, KCee was asked, he said, “We shall continue from where we stopped last year.” For May D, it’s an amazing opportunity to interact with fans, saying, “It feels great to be listed and I am going to give my fans the best.”

Star Music Trek, which has been in existence since the early 90’s, has become the nation’s most anticipated music carnival with the country’s biggest artistes delivering spectacular performances to the delight of thousands of fans across the country.

In addition to showcasing Nigeria’s favourite artistes across the country, it also turns each venue into a spectacular music feast, drawing thousands of eager fans to each concert to watch stunning performances from their favourite artistes each weekend during the three-month tour.
