Block using ‘Host’

Host can be used to disable access to an unwanted website. It works in tandem with the DNS system that translates names like www.facebook.com into a corresponding IP address (9.9.9.9.9). It is this number that is used to disable any website you want to block.

To do this, you must have access to the administrator. If you do, sign-in to your PC using your admin account, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\, and Double-click the file named “hosts”. Then select Notepad from the list of programs to open the file. Click OK. Make sure you save these new settings. Afterward, reboot your system for the settings to take effect.
