‘I want to be an international actress soon’ – Opeyemi Balogun
Opeyemi Balogun is one of the youngest movie producers of Yoruba movie genre at the moment. Opeyemi premiered her debut movie entitled, Pamolaye, in Lagos is where Sule Alao Malaika thrilled. She got into acting when she enrolled at Afeez Owo’s School of Performing Arts. She left to join Samson Kogberegbe.
Can you please tell us about yourself?
My name is Opeyemi Balogun. I am 20. I was born and brought up in Mushin, Papa Ajao to be precise. I am a graduate from Lagos State Polytechnic.
How did your journey into Nollywood start?
I started acting when I was in secondary school. I started from learning from Double A Entertainment, which is Afeez Owo’s school.
How has the experience been?
There are a lot of challenges.
Can you tell us some of the films you have featured in?
I have featured in many movies. Some of them are Ogiri Alapa, Alaborun, Ika O dogba, Jemiriye, Iponle, Aworawo and Pamoleya, written and produced by me.
Which movie brought you to limelight?
Alaborun and a soap opera, Awirigbo.
What are some of the challenges you are facing?
They are a lot. As an up and coming actress, I get a lot of insults but I have to endure because I know where I am going. On some locations you have to spend your money for transport and accommodation.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself as a professional movie star and an international actress and also a role model.
