5 reasons you should support, encourage and participate in Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade!

OVER $400 billion was reportedly looted between 1960 and 2015, a huge chunk of it in Dr. Goodluck Jonathan’s administration (2009-2015). But many believe the figure is far higher than that.

And with President Muhammadu Buhari’s renewed fight against corruption, Nigerians stand to gain far more when they support, encourage and actively participate in stopping looters.

Here are 5 quick facts of why every Nigerian should ensure we end corruption.

  1. STANDARD OF LIVING IMPROVES TREMENDOUSLY

When looting is discouraged and thieves brought to book and our common wealth recovered, the standard of living of Nigerians automatically improves.

There will be more money to spend on first class infrastructure for the benefit of all. From good roads and bridges that last decades and improve economic activities, first rate health services, well-thought out education system and good schools, 24 hour electricity and more.

Gainful employment and engagement become far easier, and gross domestic products will grow.

Life becomes more meaningful.

  1. REAL ROLE MODELS WILL EMERGE AND RENEWED FERVOUR AND PATRIOTISM GAIN GROUND

With good practices encouraged, better role models highlighted, and punishment guaranteed for thieves and looters, it becomes easier to plant renewed fervour in our citizens and patriotism fanned.

Get rich quick schemes and moral decadence won’t find avenues to grow.

We become more serious, inspired and energized to walk on the narrow path. Thieves are shamed and good deeds are rewarded.  When we all know that crime will be punished, we run and take the route that is ardous and proper.

We can focus on more enduring legacies that grow nations.

  1. EVERYONE TAKES US SERIOUS

Serious nations will begin to take more interest in our development once they know that donations and grants will be channeled to proper use.

Organizations and charities which encourage development in all areas of human endeavour will run to our aid and help improve our lives.

Institutions are strengthened, and best practices are planted. All negative nomenclature will begin to disappear.

  1. ECONOMIC INDICES WILL TRULY REFLECT OUR CONDITION

With stolen monies re-channeled, economic indices will reflect our true state and condition. The over bloated property market, stocks and bonds will begin to reflect better pictures.

Prices of houses, rent and cost of living, when devoid of laundered money and loot from the state, will show true demand and supply.

So, will stock prices, interest rates and more.

As bad money is discouraged, true worth and value come to the fore.

  1. OSTENTATION AND FLAMBOYANCE WILL GIVE WAY TO MODEST LIFESTYLES

Once corruption is discouraged, everyone will sit up and avoid ostentation and flamboyance, and live to reflect a better, more modest lifestyle.

Private jets, luxury cars and humongous mansions will begin to disappear.

Many will embrace more serious lifestyles.

Lavish parties and wastages that have no place in a Third World country will begin to reduce…
