Richard Glossip, a death row inmate in Oklahoma State Penitentiary (USA), who was convicted in 1997 for the killing of the owner of an Oklahoma City motel he managed, ate a feast takeaway to prepare for his impending execution but got 37 days more as his execution was stayed.
He recently lost his appeal after repeatedly maintaining his innocence and apparent lack of evidence. And on the day of his execution, he ate a meal said to be about 5,000 calories consisting of a medium double bacon and double cheese pizza from Pizza Hut, Fish n Chips from Long John Silvers, a baconator from Wendy’s and a strawberry malt also from Wendy’s.
Glossip’s execution was stopped when it was discovered that the Department of Corrections had no proper drugs to carry it out. The department usually gets the lethal drug on the day of execution but prison officials didn’t know they had potassium acetate instead of potassium chloride until they arrived.
