Adegbola Adigun ‘9ice’ Abolore Akande has kicked off his political career in Ogbomosho, Oyo state with a massive campaign.
The musician turned politician visited Ogbomosho Town Hall, Oja Igbo on Wednesday September 10, 2014 to address the indigenes of the city on his ambition to represent Ogbomosho North /South & Orire at the Federal Constituency I under All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also visited APC elders in the city to indicate his ambition. Immediately he stormed Ogbomosho, he paid a courtesy visit to Chief Bukola Badmus, Chief Ayanlola, APC Chairman in Ogbomosho, Chief Mafolashere Abdul Rasheed, and Prince Abass, Baba Osa. After the campaign, he visited Oja Tuntun to see Chief Bello Noah, another leader of the party in Ogbomosho.
9ice is however, preparing for APC House of Representatives primary that is coming up on November 22, 2014.
In an exclusive chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly, he opened up on his political ambition…
Is it true you have declared your ambition?
Yes, I’m in Ogbomosho to tell my people that I’m an indigene of the town. I’m contesting for House of Representatives for Ogbomosho North /South and Orire at the Federal Constituency 1. This is for real. I’m here to change the life of my people. Politics shouldn’t be a platform to embezzle money. You have to care for people. My mission is to care for people of Ogbomosho. I have lots of plans. Once I emerge the winner, I will use my salary for four years to care for people of Ogbomosho.
What are your chances of winning?
Chances of winning are very great. So, far so good, people are ready to vote. The masses are tired of people lying to them and making promises they cannot fulfill. Change is inevitable and this is the time.
What motivated you to contest?
My motivation is the fact that my people still live in abject poverty, absence of social amenities, lack of infrastructure, to see people suffer in a place blessed with natural resources, greatly endowed and one of the foremost towns in this country.
How will you finance it?
We are going to finance the campaign by organising three fund-raisers, and support from family members and friends. It won’t affect my career because my creativity never stops and God Almighty is the Giver of wisdom and talents.
Are other entertainers in support of your ambition?
Other entertainers are in support of my ambition and I am in support of my other colleagues as well who are running elsewhere. My family members are in support of my dream and with God Almighty behind me it shall be possible.
