The couple 1

It was a celebration of joy in the household of Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, a Lagosian and Dr. Abodunrin Shodunke of Abeokuta in Ogun State when they came together as one. It was the solemnization of matrimony of their children (both medical doctors) Dr. Moyosoreoluwa Adbul Rasaq Ebiti and his adorable damsel, Dr. Kikelomo Hauwa Shodunke. Call it a carnival of sorts you would not be mistaken as Ajah, Lagos, stood still from morning till night when these two illustrious families on Sunday, December 14, 2014, celebrated their children’s union.

As early as 10 o’clock in the morning, all roads led to the Central Mosque in Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos, where Islamic scholars performed the Nikkai that pronounced them husband and wife. In his sermon, the Islamic scholars admonished the young couple to always involve Almighty Allah in their marital sojourn. Ceremony over, the wedding train moved to Ruby Gardens, KM 11, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ajah (Lagos), for wedding reception.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had a word with the couple, bride’s mother and the groom’s father…

As you can see she is beautiful inside out. Her righteousness, her politeness. She is humble and intelligent. She is also God fearing.

The couple 2-1‘I am happy and feel fulfilled’ – Dr. Kikelomo Shodunke (Bride)

How do you feel today being married?

I am happy and feel fulfilled because I married the man of my dream. I am grateful to God Almighty and other people that supported us. I am humbled by all the love and support showered on us by families and relations.

What attracted you to your husband?

Loads of it. Apart from the fact that we are in the same profession as medical doctors, he is also a caring and God fearing man. My husband is smart, intelligent, humble and generous. Above all, he treats me like a queen.

Bride's parents-2‘I feel so happy and grateful to God’ – MRS. ARAMIDE SHODUNKE (Bride’s mother)

How do you feel today giving out your daughter in marriage?

I feel so excited, I feel so happy and grateful to God Almighty for making this day great for me. It is the day I have been looking forward to. I thank God that it came so easily. I am still in good health. My joy knows no bound.

How would you describe her?

Kikelomo Hauwa Shodunke is my first daughter and my first child. In a way, this is my first wedding. She is a medical doctor. What would I say? She is a nice person, a compassionate soul who always has people’s interest at heart. She loves me so much and I love her too.

What are you going to miss about her?

I am going to miss her so much. She is my friend and confidant. I talk to her on phone everyday. We talk, chat, and now that she is starting her home, I will have to give her some space. Again, as a mother, there is nothing I can do but to wish her all the best. I am going to miss her, no doubt.

What is your advice for her?

That she should allow God Almighty to reign in her marriage. And once you allow God to partner you in your marital life, you can never go wrong.

Groom's parents-2‘I can’t express my feelings’ – ALHAJI RAFIU EBITI (Groom’s father)

How do you feel today?

I can’t express my feelings. I don’t even know what to say because I am just too excited and happy as a father. I give glory to God for making today a reality. Both of them are from the same background as medical doctors and the same religion. And now that she is married to my son, she is my daughter. I am a lucky man that one has become two.
