Actor Rowan Atkinson’s hometown named best place to raise a family in the UK

A village in Cumbria (North West England), where Mr Bean actor (Rowan Atkinson) attended school and  with a population of just 1,800, is the best place in Britain to raise a family, according to a study.

The annual study, by finance specialist Family Investments, took into account factors such as exam results, the cost of housing, salaries and crime rate; with St Bees garnering 23.4 points from a possible 30 to come out tops.

Making up the top ten are Wokingham, Berkshire (2nd); Faringdon, Oxfordshire (3rd); Lower Earley, Berkshire (4th); Swanland, East Yorkshire (5th); Moor Row, Cumbria (6th); Sandbach, Cheshire (7th); Longridge, Lancashire (8th); Hixon, Staffordshire (9th) and Holmes Chapel, Cheshire (10th).
