Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jr, GCON has congratulated the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR on his eightieth birthday anniversary, describing him as a unique monarch whose acts, thoughts and aspirations have catapulted him to the realm of a living legend.
Dr. Adenuga who stated this in a congratulatory message released on Tuesday said Oba Adetona had transformed his environment positively in the last fifty-four years of his reign as Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
“In the last fifty-four years of Alayeluwa’s reign, Ijebuland has transmuted into international reckoning due to Oba Adetona’s untiring efforts to develop the land. It is on record that the monarch leveraged on his personal contacts and those of his subjects to reposition Ijebuland and Ijebu who are considered as legendary masters in leadership, commerce and industry,” he said.
He commended the monarch for his compassionate and transformational rule that has magnified the Ijebu essence into a global brand emulated all over the world, adding that the Awujale had forged a strong bond of love and unity amongst the over fifty federating Ijebu towns and kingdoms.
“Oba Adetona is the quintessential Ijebu who has defined the never-say-die entrepreneurial spirit unique to the race. As a nationalist and detribalized patriot, he has built bridges of friendship across various ethnic divides. It is remarkable that Alayeluwa has re-invented the Ojude Oba Festival and transformed it into a global event enthusiastically supported by devotees of all religion. This has helped in promoting religious harmony in the kingdom, Dr. Adenuga remarked.”
He saluted the monarch’s love for education typified by his enrolment at the National Open University in his quest to make history as the oldest monarch to bag a degree in Law. He concluded by wishing Oba Adetona continuous sterling health and more prosperity.
