The one week of flexible exchange rate regime which began on Monday, June 20, has cost us two billionaires dropping from global ranking of wealthiest people, one losing $1.6 billion and another gaining $300 million.
52 year old Mr. Femi OTEDOLA of Forte Oil, worth $1.2 billion before the exchange rate moved from N197 to a dollar, to N281, and Alhaji Aldulsamad Rabiu, 55, worth $1.1 billion, dropped from Forbes rich list.
Today (Monday, June 27 at 2:42 pm) saw $1.6 billion (N448 billion) wiped off the net worth of Dr. Michael ADENUGA, Jnr, 63. But Alhaji ALIKO Dangote, 59, gained $300 million (N84 billion). Only Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, 65, retained her $1.7 billion fortune.
Adenuga’s net worth dropped from $8.9 billion to $7.3 billion, a total of $1.6 billion.
Dangote gained $300 million (from last week’s $14.6 billion to $14.9 billion).
While Dangote is at number 59 on Forbes list, Adenuga is at number 179, and Alakija, number 1,123.
