Aides, thugs on rampage over Oba of Mushin largesse

+disrupt the unveiling of his new palace

-vandalised over 30 cars worth N20 million

Residents of Mushin in Lagos State are at logger heads with their traditional ruler, Oba Fatai Ajileru as some of his aides alongside thugs went on rampage vandalising cars during the unveiling of his multi million naira new palace on Monday, March 24, 2014.

Insiders revealed to ENCOMIUM Weekly that trouble began when the oba decided to commission his new palace at Oluwole Street, Mushin. The event started at around 12 pm, and lots of celebrities graced the occasion.

At 6 pm, area boys alongside body guards of the oba assembled at the palace waiting for largesse from Oba Fatai. Undisclosed amount of money was given to each leader of each area in Mushin.

Sadly, the allocated money didn’t get to some minor groups of the touts. They, therefore, vowed to disrupt the party.

At 7 pm, a gang in masks stormed the palace demanding their own share of the said money. They were armed also with dangerous weapons. No one could go near them either. The gang stormed the streets and started vandalising cars parked on the road. The gang broke windscreens, side mirrors and other valuable items on Ofada, Oliyide and other streets in Mushin axis of Lagos.

According to some witnesses, innocent citizens were attacked by these hoodlums. In fact, they macheted a barber in Ofada Street.

One of the victims, Tijani Adegbola who spoke with ENCOMIUM Weekly on Saturday, April 5, 2014, alleged that Oba Fatai was responsible for the action of his boys. The man who works with a celebrity journal in Lagos, had his 323 Mazda sports car damaged beyond repair.” It’s a sad incident. I reside in Ofada axis of Mushin. I was shocked when the aggrieved thugs began their dastardly acts and over 30 cars were vandalised. My car’s windscreen was vandalised beyond recognition.”

It was gathered that all the vehicles that were vandalised were worth N20 million. According to our source, residents are insisting Oba Fatai Ajileru would pay for the damages.

All efforts to reach the King proved abortive. We visited the palace twice to get their own version of the incident but the oba’s aide said he was indisposed to attend to press men at the time of filing this report.
