Wife of the Ondo State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has given out free eye glasses and mosquito nets to market women in Owo, Ondo State. This was done at a programme tagged ‘’Market Health Visit’’ in collaboration with Caroline Samuel Foundation, which took place at Oja-Oba market in Owo. The market women were given access to free medical check-ups for malaria, typhoid, hepatitis B, blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, eye test, and BMI. Many of the women also received free treatments.
The First Lady explained that the programme became necessary in order to sensitise women about their health and promote good health among them. “It is an opportunity to tell our people that the present administration in the State is so particular about people living healthy and will stop at nothing in ensuring that Ondo residents are enjoying good health.”
Arabinrin Akeredolu who observed that the programme was the first of its kind in the State, assured the people that the programme will continue. “Since health is wealth and most market women find it hard to leave their goods for hospitals, we decided to bring good health to your door steps because without good health, you cannot do anything.”
