Alleged wife killer, Lekan Shonde abandoned in Ikoyi Prisons

The end to the case of alleged wife killer, Lekan Shonde is surely not in sight as the the 53 year old father of two children who has been remanded since Friday, May 10, 2016 is still cooling off in Ikoyi Prisons despite the release of the long-awaited report of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) which was said to be the only reason for the delay of the hearing of the case.
However, since the report came out a couple of months back, the case is yet to be transferred to the High Court as the law demands. This was made known to encomium.ng  by Shonde’s counsel, Barrister I B Muhammed who also confirmed to us that his client truly has a case to answer stated in the report when he was contacted on the matter.
On Monday, October 16, 2017, encomium.ng again reached out to Barrister Muhammed on the development concerning the case, he swiftly reacted, “I dont know of any development yet. I dont have any information for now.”
With the situation of things now, Shonde will surely remain behind bars, coping alongside other inmates pending the time he will be properly arraigned  at the High Court for murder charges which is yet to be known.
Shonde, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 allegedly killed his wife, Ronke in their Tiemo Crescent, Egbeda, Lagos home. He was docked at the Magistrate Court, Ebute Meta, Lagos, facing a murder charge before Magistrate O I Adelaja, having established that he had committed capital offence going by the outcome of the autopsy carried out on his deceased wife. He has since been remanded in Ikoyi Prisons in line with Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos state.
