‘Ama dance with Olaide Bakare is coming soon’ – LAIDE BAKARE

POPULAR Yoruba actress, Laide Bakare is out with a new concept entitled, Ama dance with Olaide Bakare. In a chat with ENCOMIUM Weekly, the beautiful mother of three children said she is fully back and ready to release her movies, now that she is back from maternity leave. She spoke about her movies, record label and more.

What have you been up to, we have not seen much of you in recent times?

We are here o. The CEO has been on maternity leave and now I am back. I mean business now and I will be more serious. I have two movies directed by myself. Also, Daddy Daddy will be coming out soon, Jejere is there. I will promote and release it soon. The third is Hali-baby. It’s about a girl named Halimat. I am working on it.

What inspired the movie, Daddy Daddy?

It’s just a typical family story that portrays love, betrayal and it teaches quite a number of lessons. For example, in Nigeria, some people are so desperate that they are not contented with what they have. Some condemn their family because of disability which is not good. They have to embrace their family whatever happens, they need love and someone who doesn’t love his immediate family is cut off from destiny.

As an actor, producer, director, mother and wife, how do you juggle all?

It can only be God. I don’t know how I combine all these, but I know it’s God’s doing. When I got inspiration to set up a full production company, I never knew it was going to be this big. So, I thank God for He is really helping me. I am an entertainment entrepreneur.   I don’t just act, I do movies, make them and direct them as well.

How easy do you key into roles?

For me, talent first. Then you improve on your craft and you are good to go. That’s what I do.

Would you say you are enjoying fame?

Yes, absolutely 100 per cent. Ever since I was a teenager, people have reckoned with the face and they can’t but like me.

You appeared in Ijo ya, where we saw your dancing skills. Are we going to see more of that?

Yes, very soon. Something bigger than Ijo ya will be coming up from a dance company and they want me to partake. I don’t know why they insist that I must dance. The concept is entitled, Ama dance with Olaide Bakare. There you will see Olaide Bakare dance. I studied Theatre Arts for first degree so I am a dancer.

Will we get to see you sing too?

I don’t trust myself. Honestly, I can’t say. Maybe or maybe not. Probably in the future, I might consider music as a career.

How is your record label doing?

We are good, very soon we are going on a world tour. So, we will be recognized worldwide.

How are you enjoying motherhood?

It’s been wonderful. I can’t ask for anything less. I have two boys and a girl. I didn’t believe it myself. I never planned to have many kids. I always believed in one child, but God knows that I would have more than one.

Would you want your daughter to take your career path?

Unfortunately, she doesn’t like acting even dancing, but Simline Entertainment is her company. She has got an entertainment company because my boys will be going into full production and she will be the boss.
