Ambode invites OPS, entrepreneurs to tap into rapidly growing investment business

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday invited members of the Organised Private Sector and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the rapidly growing business climate to invest in the State.

The Governor who spoke during the celebration of Lagos State Day at the 2015 Lagos International Trade Fair held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, added that investment opportunities abound in Power, Agriculture, Transportation, Health, Housing and Tourism.

Governor Ambode who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello also informed that opportunities also exist all over the State in the development of Private Estates, Shopping malls, Central Business Districts, Industrial Parks and Enterprise Zones.

“The Lekki Free Trade Zone project is now a reality. I am pleased to inform you that the number of investors that have commenced business operations in the zone in increasing on a monthly basis”.

“Notable among investors at the zone is the Dangote Group that is establishing world class Refinery and Fertilizer Plants therein. I therefore enjoin you all to take full advantage of the array of incentives on offer at the Lekki Free Trade Zone before it is too late”, the Governor stated.

He gave a commitment that the State Government will constantly engage the Organised Private Sector through the Lagos State Corporate Assembly, adding that under the platform, the business community would have the opportunity to bring issues and challenges being faced to the table.

“We understand and appreciate the concerns of entrepreneurs, investors, and businessmen in Lagos State.  They have been expressed and emphasized time and time again. We understand your desire for a business friendly environment in which your prospect for success is positive”, the Governor said.

Responding to a questions by newsmen later about efforts to return the Trade Fair to its permanent Site, Mr Tunji Bello said in view of the construction work going on the Lagos- Badagry Expressway and the promise of Governor Ambode that work would be concluded on the road networks and rail in the area by December next year, the dream would be actualized very soon.

“You know there is a major rehabilitation going on the Lagos -Badagry Expressway, I am sure by the time we finish that rehabilitation and recall that the Governor has promised that by December next year  we would have finished all the road networks as well as the rail we  are trying to do”.

“By the time that one is finished, that former trade fair complex and so on would also be rehabilitated and made available because that is the normal place they should use and then movement to that place would be easier for commerce and industry”, Mr Tunji Bello said.

The representative of the Governor later undertook an inspection of the Lagos State Pavilion in company of the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Prince Rotimi Ogunleye and President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Remi Bello and several other guests.
