Re: Appointment of the newly sworn Honourable Commissioners

“I am directed to refer to the above subject and to inform you that the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development will like to be officially addressed as Pharmacist (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf….

“Consequently, any publication or correspondence should be addressed as stated above, please.”

The letter was signed by one Adenle O. F, for Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

Certainly, the letter has generated arguments among civil servants and journalists alike within the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

Some felt it was not necessary, while others felt she has the right to say the way she wants to be addressed.

True, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf is a graduate of Pharmacy from University of Lagos and has a pharmaceutical company Musarog Pharmaceutical, to show for it.  She also has a petrol station named Musarog Petroleum.

She is also a politician.  She contested for the House of Assembly, Alimosho Constituency I seat, in 2011 but lost to the incumbent, Hon. Rahman Adebisi Yusuf, who won the seat for the second time in 2015.  She was compensated with an appointment as the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Development in Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, a position she held till October 2014, when the LGs/LCDAs governments were dissolved by Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Her appointment as commissioner in the state has certainly raised her status in Alimosho Local Government Area and made her one of the political leaders in the area.

In fact, since her swearing-in on Monday, October 19, 2015, three thanksgiving receptions have been held in her honour.  One was at AC Primary School, Meiran by APC stalwarts in Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA and people she has empowered through her various empowerment programmes held during her tenure in the LCDA.

Another thanksgiving held on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Al-Muis Praying Ground, Murhi Int’l Central Mosque, Plot 45, Omole Layout, Ogba, by her Muslim brothers and sisters of the mosque.  She was also at Celestial Church of Christ, Jerusalem Cathedral, for another thanksgiving.

The new commissioner is 41 and mother of four boys.
