Amosun moves to end teachers’ strike

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has stated that efforts are in top gear to resolve grievances surrounding the strike by public school teachers in the state.

Amosun, who revealed this during his ward-to-ward re-election campaign rally in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state, said grey areas, would be addressed without leaving any stone unturned.

“We are committed to improving the lives of workers in this state. This is the reason our salary is higher than other states in the South-West and which is paid on time and regularly.

“When we came on board, teachers salary was N700m plus but we have increased it to N1.9b within our three and half years in office.

“We are discussing with Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to see that all issues are resolved. The lapses that brought about the strike would be addressed.”

The governor, who also travelled two hours across the ocean to the riverine Ode Omi community, assured that more roads, schools and health facilities would be constructed within Ogun Waterside to open up the area for further opportunities.

While receiving the state’s helmsman in their various communities, the royal fathers, including Lenuwa of Ode Omi, Oba Adenuga Beyioku, Elefire of Efire, Oba Musa Adeniyi as well as Onisin of Ilusin, Oba Taiwo Adesanya, commended the Amosun-led administration for its landmark strides across the three senatorial districts of the state, assuring him of their unflinching support in the forthcoming elections.
