AMVCA gulped N80.3 million

The fourth edition of Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards was a success by kilometres. The organizers spared no cost in ensuring the awards continued to take the lead among other awards in Africa.

The event, held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the prestigious Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, gulped all of N80.3 million.

The breakdown is as follows:

 

THE N16.8 MILLION VENUE

ENCOMIUM Weekly gathered that about N17.8 million was paid by the organizers for the prestigious Expo Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

N9 million went into the letting of hall, N1.7 million for light. N3.7 million for the sound system. N1.2 million for stage and N1.2 million for uninterrupted power supply.

 

THE RED CARPET (N5 million)

The hosts of AMVCA were generous with the red carpet. The red carpet was massive, starting from the lobby through the walkway of Eko Hotel to the frontage of the Expo Hall. It was speculated that the organizers spent N5 million for the red carpet.

 

USHERS (N1.2 million)

Delectable ladies in red numbering up to 20 handled the affair of ushering guests for the event. Some were on the red carpet beaming smiles at guests as they pranced around.

Two were positioned at the entrance of the hall, while the remaining ladies in red were inside the hall directing guests to their seats. Three ushers in black flowing sleeveless gown took turn to hand over plaques to award presenters on stage.

Each usher was paid N30,000 and the modeling agency handling them collected N250,000. They were lodged as well at the rate of N70,000 per room.

The ushers were paired in four per room. They occupied five rooms at the rate of N70,000 per room.

 

N1.3 million TROPHIES

The trophies were glittering compared to previous editions of the show. They were improved edition of the show. They were improved version of the customized plaques. Made of wood and bronze, mounted on a base of glossy mahogany aside the gigantic trophy at the entrance of Eko Hotel. Insiders squealed the smaller trophies cost N10,000 each while the huge one at the entrance costs N500,000.

A total of 40 plaques were given out to awardees making a sum of N400,000. N400,000 also went into logistics.

 

WHAT THE HOSTS GOT (N4 million)

The talented host of 2016 AMVCA, I.K Osakioduwa and South African presenter, Minenhle Minnie Dlamini carted home N2 million each.

 

THEIR WARDROBE ALLOWANCE (N1 million)

They were treated like royalties, the duo of IK Osakioduewa and Minenhle Minnie Dlamini also got wardrobe allowance aside their take home for the night. They were both given N500,000 each as wardrobe allowance. The duo changed their attires about four times before the show ended.

 

GUEST PRESENTERS, HOSTS, NOMINEES, FOREIGN JOURNALISTS WERE LODGED (N14 million)

Guests were lodged at Eko Hotel and Suites – presenters, artistes, hosts, nominees, foreign journalists and foreign nominees were all lodged on the bill of the organizers. Lodging for a night at Eko Hotel costs N70,000. The organizers lodged 200 people.

 

WHAT THE ARTISTS GOT (N12 million)

Tanzanian singer, Alikiba was the first on stage. He was paid N2 million for his brilliant performance. Yemi Alade got N2 million as well. While Flavour walked away with N5 million. Zonke allegedly got N1 million.

The comedians were paid N2 million. The four comedians that entertained that night also shared in the largesse.

 

ADVERTISEMENT (N20 million)

The media also got their share. The PR company handling this aspect was paid N20 million for their services, print media, radio jingles, bill board, youtube and online advert. All gulped N20 million.

 

THE INVITATION CARD (N5 million)

It came in form of a credit cardholder with the actual invite inside it. The invite itself came in form of a credit card. We gathered that each invite cost N5,000. They made 1,000 copies at the total of N5 million.
