Another internet craze! UNICEF launches #WakeUpCall to help raise funds in Syria

A new social media charity campaign has hit the virtual space – this time it is dubbed the #WakeUpCall and it is aimed at raising funds for Syria.

The two-day old campaign involves posting a picture of yourself within moments of waking up and donating to UNICEF’s fund to help Syrian children, then nominating other persons to follow suit – just like the Ice bucket challenge.

UNICEF UK ambassador, Jemima Khan, who started the drive, wrote: “I considered asking friends to donate money not to have to attend another dreary charity dinner, but have decided that the quickest way to raise money is through a social media campaign – to try to replicate the astonishing success of the Ice Bucket Challenge”.
