Following the official removal of petrol subsidy by the Federal government yesterday, Wednesday, May 11, 2016, Nigerians have started buying petrol at N145.
Petrol stations across the country have adjusted their pump price to the new rates as the product remains scarce, with long queues seen at many petrol stations in the Lagos metropolis.
Meanwhile, compatriots have been having their say on the development with many wondering how they would cope with the multiplier effects of the hike in petrol price.
Majority of social media users are disappointed in the move, as is evident in the tweets below…
“Instead of fulfiling their promises, they have increased petrol pump price to N145 per litre, increased electricity tariffs #OccupyNigeria

Since I became a Nigerian, I haven’t seen any govt regulate anything. So I LoL when Ibe Kachikwu said marketers won’t exceed N145 per litre.

For me, N145 per litre = Nigerians paying for govt inefficiencies. No need for big grammer.

Real issues on #FuelSubsidy removal: If the price of oil hasn’t risen by more than 20% off its lows, why is petrol now over 60% higher?!
