APC stalwart backs autopsy report -Isiaka Adeleke wasn’t poisoned”

As controversy still rages, even after the outcome of the autopsy, over the death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) who passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart told Encomium Weekly that he was not poisoned.

The party man, an unrepentant follower of Serubawon from Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Federal constituency who spoke to Encomium Weekly inconito explained that Serubawon, his principal, was not poisoned at all as suspected by the family and some party faithful from his home town, Ede, Osun state. He added that the hunky politician over stressed himself a day prior to his death.

According to the source, Adeleke visited about 13 towns in Iwo, Ayedire and Olaoluwa Federal constituency alone on Saturday, April 22, 2017, after leaving the burial of the mother of a party chieftain in Kuta, Ayedire local government area of the state, all in preparation for 2018 governorship race.

“One thing that’s certain about Isiaka Adeleke’s death is that he didn’t die of any poison as being suspected or argued by his family and some of his supporters in Ede especially. So,  all the protests after his death were just a waste of time and a demonstration of unnecessary anger and hatred against the governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, suspecting he might have a hand in Adeleke’s death. I think the protests should have been directed to God instead of Aregbesola because the man knew nothing about Adeleke’s death.

“As an addicted follower of Serubawon from Olaoluwa, l can never support the poison theory of his death  because I knew him well as a politician who didn’t enjoy resting at all… But above all, only God knows best, no matter what we say as human beings.

“On the  day oga came to our constituency, he purposely came for burial of Hon. Olalekan Amobi’s mother in Kuta, Ayedire Local Government Area. Amobi is a Special Adviser in Aregbesola’ s government and a former chairman of Ayedire and a political ally of Serubawon. That was why Adeleke really attended the burial. He was even dressed in the Ankara aso ebi for the funeral. A lot of us were at the event. Although, he ate a piece of meat that day, he wasn’t the only one who picked meat from that plate on the high table. Other party top shots from the constituency and few of those that accompanied him to the event also ate from same plate. So, the protest that he was poisoned at the burial was out of place. And the Serubawon I knew couldn’t be poisoned and killed just like that. His death was natural and as a result of accumulated stress resulting from visits to many places that same day wit without a rest. ”

Attenticating his claim, the source stressed, “Isiaka Adeleke was in Kuta on Saturday, April 22, and he used the opportunity to tour the whole constituency as a sort of awareness campaign for his gubernatorial ambition. Imagine him visiting about 13 towns and villages in the constituency, including Iwo, Ile ogbo, Telemu, Ogbaagba, Bode Osi, Asamu, ikire Ile, Feesu and others just in a day. I learnt he gave each of these towns about N100,000 and above before departing. I also learnt that before Adeleke came to our area, he had earlier gone to Ilesa and few other towns in the area, also for underground campaign. Then, she got home around 10 pm that Saturday. The best expected of him was to rest but he didn’t. Instead, he still held a crucial meeting with his supporters in Ede, and the meeting ended around 2 am. To me, he practically didn’t have enough time to rest after all the ups and downs of Saturday, April 22. And  here was a man I learnt was diabetic. So, what did they expect? It’s a pity he died just like that. Adeleke was a great politician that Osun people, especially we his followers, will forever miss.

“Even, to say the fact, we got to know of the autopsy result before it came out officially. My cousin’s son who is a student doctor at  Ladoke Akintoka Teaching Hospital on Osogbo revealed the result to us. He said he died of overdose of pain killer. And that the stress he went through days prior to his death might be responsible for the pain. So, thay should stop blaming anybody for the man’s death. To me,  he died a natural death. It was only that God had destined the death to be controversial. That’s why all those things happened soon as the news of his death broke. Even now, the family and his Ede supporters are yet to resign to fate on the incident because they never knew he could die that soon.”

Meanwhile, the autopsy result by LAUTECH Teaching Hospital has validated it that the astute politician was injected with Analgin, an analgesic banned by the National Food and Drug Administration and control (NAFDAC) several years ago. But this didn’t go down well with Adeleke’s family, especially his younger brother, Deji Adeleke who reportedly insisted that his brother’s death was suspicious.
