Applause for Femi Kuti as he breaks world record

In the evening of Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the new Afrikan Shrine in Agidingbi, Ikeja (Lagos), the king of afrobeat, Femi Kuti, broke the world record for the longest single note played on the saxophone.

The 55 year old musician played the note for 46 minutes, 38 seconds, surpassing Kenny G’s 1997 record of 45 minutes, 37 seconds.
The feat at the Sunday Jump was witnessed by Senator Ben Murray Bruce, the deputy high commissioners of the United Kingdom and Netherlands as well as hundreds of fans.
A repeat performance is expected to be staged before officials of the Guinness Book of World Records in two weeks.
