Newly married Tomi Ashimolowo, son of Kingsway International Christian Center’s Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo became a topic for discussion on the social media recently over his wife’s (Dorothy Jeneba) revealing dress during their luxury honeymoon in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Tomi and his wife, Dorothy were in Dubai, UAE for their honeymoon weeks after their talk of the town wedding in London. The wife, Dorothy was photographed wearing a swim wear leaning on her husband near the beach. The picture was later shared on the public space by Dorothy and shortly after the picture surfaced online the social media went abuzz with comments from people who hurled insults at the new couple.
Comments flew in from around the world castigating the wife’s mode of dressing. The comments in some instances were abusive, some even attacked each other when their views contradicted over the development. There were those who lashed out at those commenting to mind their businesses and leave the couple to their private life. A section of those who commented believe the wife shouldn’t have posted such picture on the social media considering the family background of her husband being the son of a highly revered pastor.
“Sharing this with the public is uncalled for, what happened to privacy and moderation? There is no need sharing such, pastor’s lineage for that matter,” so said an anonymous in one of the comments. “It has become a tradition now for people to display what is to
be a private and cherished moment to the public like a cheap sponsored reality show.” Another one wrote “You are a Preacher son’s wife. You should have just kept the picture away from the media.”
Other set of people reckon that it is the best way to dress to a beach regardless of status or background.
“It is beach wear, there is nothing wrong with it, or do you expect her to tie wrapper to the beach?” One Olajide Olusesi also wrote in support “What is it with this hollier than thou attitude of Nigerians? We are just a bunch of hypocrites.” “She went to the beach with her husband. They were expecting her to go there in bubu or buba and iro? Maybe they shouldn’t have shared the photo on public domain, but I think she’s appropriately dressed for the event,” the view of Vanessa Offiong.
In the eyes of Iren Paul, the couple are just having the best time of their lives, “a husband and wife having fun at a sea side. What is wrong with that?” Susan Modupe-Olaoluwa said, “There is absolutely nothing wrong with what she is putting on, by and large she is even with her husband not another person’s husband.” Meanwhile, the couple are said not to be bothered about all these as they are still in Dubai for their honeymoon. Tomi Michael Ashimolowo and Dorothy Jeneba Kamara, a Sierra Leonean were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at KICC Center in Kent, London. It was a ceremony that had in attendance top clergy from Nigeria. It is also one out of two weddings for the Ashimolowos this year, Tomi’s younger brother, Tobi is also set to walk down the aisle with his lover later this year.
INSIDE ASHIMOLOWO’S KICC PRAYER DOME
Recently, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo dedicated another of his ministry’s sanctuary in Mende, Maryland, Lagos. The event attracted preachers and men of the Word from far and near. The sanctuary named KICC Prayer Dome has since May 2014, when it was officially opened has been playing host to church events in droves.
Apart from the normal Sunday and Wednesday service that hold there, the Prayer Dome also plays host to gospel events like concerts, crusades, conferences, film shows and other activities. The edifice which is oval shaped stood elegantly on a portion of land inside KICC, Mende, Maryland, Lagos base. Because of it’s alluring features, it is very visible while on Ikorodu Road. The property was designed by a foreign company and has capacity for over 20,000 people. The inside is decorated with beautiful lightings that add colour and glamour to the place. KICC Prayer Dome is fully airconditioned and has offices for the pastors. The church also has a bigger replica of this Dome in Buckmore, UK, where the ministry’s headquarters is located.
