At long last, Radisson Blu Hotel reopens for business!

-50 percent of the protesting staffers now work in the hotel’-source claims

The exclusive, water-front Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, has reopened for business following “extensive renovation” of its facilities, as part of the management’s commitment to retain standards and remain the hotel of first choice for business and pleasure.

It would be recalled that in February this year, the Chief Oba Otudeko-owned hotel was shut to allow for upgrading of its facilities, in the words of the hotel’s management, which led to a revolt among its workers.

In a statement at a press briefing on Friday, August 28, 2015, the management of the hotel said, “We are proud to announce the reopening of Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel after an extensive renovation. We have always placed a high value on offering our guests the best, most exclusive experience possible”.

Guests and customers are reassured of increased focus on delivery of superior quality service. Expressing gratitude to their customers, and reiterating their commitment to quality service said, “We are mindful of our position as a premium hospitality brand and we will continue to do everything required to maintain our premium standard and ensure our guests are treated to best-in-class hospitality services available anywhere in the world”.

On why the hotel had to be shut down during the renovation, the management noted that it was in line with the company’s strict adherence to global health and safety standards, as well as the magnitude of the renovation contrary to widespread belief that it was due to workers protest.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s findings revealed that the extensive renovation of the hotel’s facilities included the upgrade of power generation facilities; the central cooling system; refurbishment and upgrade of kitchen equipment; soft refurbishment and refresh rooms as well as the public areas.

An inside source who preferred not to be named spoke to us on how the issue with the protesting workers which put the hotel in bad light months ago was resolved.

“We are trying to down play those events and focus on the fact that we’ve reopened for business, so we’re saying much about that, but I can authoritatively tell you that more than 50 percent of the workers have been recalled and are now working in the hotel”. Continuing, the source said, “Recruitment is open to both the old workers and new ones. The doors of employment is not shut to them,” the source said.
