BBA Hotshots 2014 Tanzania’s Idris is the winner

Season 9 of Africa’s biggest reality show has finally come to an end with Idris from Arusha, Tanzania emerging the winner.

Tayo and Idris were brought in a limousine to the closing ceremony of the show. They made a great entry to the live stage. Idris was speechless as well as Tayo. Tayo was casually dressed than expected. He stood to watch his final video of his 63 days in the house, started shuffling around nervously.

Idris was looking suave in his suit, he clearly enjoyed his video as he was glued to it.

IK asked Tayo if the pressure hit him towards the end and he said, he chilled for the past week as he felt he had done everything already. Tayo said that he would give a “grand prize” to the woman who “walked into his house.” While Idris was ready to “give the money back to Africa.”

Idris, the winner, charmed not only the women of the house, he charmed the entire continent of Africa. This made him USD300,000 richer now. Although, both are winners, Tayo played an amazing game but Idris is the ultimate winner and there so much joyous celebration.

After spending 63 days in the house, the show was officially brought to an end on Sunday, December 7, 2013.

Initially, it was meant to kick start on Sunday, September 7, 2014 but for the unfortunate fire outbreak that razed Sasani studio highlands north, Johannesburg venue of the reality show. The show was postponed indefinitely until a suitable studio was located. It started Sunday, October 5, 2014, housemates competed fiercely for US300,000 dollars for 63 days.

Participating countries were Nigeria, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda replaced Angola in the Hotshots. Foremost Nigerian on air personality, I.K Osakioduwa returned for the sixth time to anchor the show.

Big Brother Africa debuted on Sunday, May 25, 2003 and ended on Sunday, September 7, 2003. It lasted for 106 days. The show had 12 house mates from 12 countries. Makubale of Zambia went home with the US100,000 dollars prize

money. Participating countries includes Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe. Mark Pilgrim hosted the first edition.

The second edition held on Sunday August 5, 2007. It lasted for 98 days, it had 12 housemates from 12 countries. The show was hosted by KB Ngakane. Richard Dyle Beuidndont of Tanzania emerged the winner. He pocketed US100,000 dollars.

On Sunday, August 24, 2008, Season 3 hit the screen. It lasted 91 days. KB Ngakane returned for the second time as the host. Richard Venancio of Angola won the prize money of US100,000 dollars.

Big Brother Africa season 4 (2010) was tagged The Revolution, it started on September 6, 2009, this time around, 25 housemates were selected from 14 countries to slug it out for the prize money. The show lasted 91 days. I K Osakioduwa hosted the show for the first time. Nigerian housemate, Kevin Chuwang Pam got the winning prize of US200,000 dollars.

Big Brother Africa Season 5 contestants were invited for the All-Stars prize money, IK Osakioduwa returned as the host of the show for the second time. Nigeria’s Uti Nwachukwu won the prize money.

In 2011, Big Brother Season 6 was tagged Amplified. It started on May 1, 2011, lasted 91 days. It ended on July 31, 2011. 26 housemates from 14 countries contested the winning prize (US200,000 dollars). For the first time, Mnet co partnered Coca-Cola to stage the show. It was hosted by IK Osakioduwa. The show had two winners, Zimbabwe’s Robert Wendall and Nigeria’s Karen Igho.

Big Brother All-Stars started on Sunday, May 8, 2012 and was on for 91 days. However, the cash prize was increased to US300,000 dollars, a new rule was added called Doubled Up. Housemates partnered other people to enter as pair. Seven celebrities were also involved in BBA7. The reality show had 35 housemates, 14 pairs and seven VIP celebrities. Keagan Pietersen of South Africa won the show.

In 2013, Big Brother Africa kicked off on May 26, 2013. It was tagged The Chase. “28 housemates from 14 countries competed for US300,000 dollars. For the first time, two houses accommodated housemates, Diamond and Ruby House. Dillish Matthew from Namibia won the contest.
