Best of Nollywood Award has opened doors and created opportunities for us

Best of Nollywood Awards, BON Awards is an annual film event presented by Best of Nollywood Magazine honouring outstanding achievement in the movie industry. The 7th edition held at Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, Nigeria on October 16, 2014.
In an interview with the organizer of the ceremony, Mr. Seun Oloketuyi, he told ENCOMIUM Weekly how he has been able to achieve 70 percent of this year’s award.

How would you rate BON 2014, what level of success was recorded?
I think we achieved 70 percent of our plan this year, better quality guests and only the best got rewarded as usual.
What were the hiccups?
Few logistics issues, not only from our management of the event but from our partners, the airlines which shifted flying time. We had 50 people on board.
What lessons did you learn in previous editions that you put into practice to shape this year’s edition?
I would keep them in my chest.
What determined the winners this year?
Just like every year, our jury.
Talk in town has it that the awards gulped a lot of money, like how much was that?
The Best of Nollywood awards costs between N120 million and N150 million to put together.
The issue of logistics still came up again this year, how did you manage it?
Logistics problem will always come up. We worked really hard but had so many issues, it is not bread and butter moving 260 people to and fro.
The issue about a blogger’s report, how would you say it has affected the brand, BON?
I won’t want to talk about it. Life is about the good and bad, you learn from such occurrences. I bear no grudge against the blogger or the person who gave her the story. I have moved on.
How has it affected you as a person?
I understand the complexity of friendship and how human beings think.
What should we expect in next year’s edition?
Bigger events. We’ve started work already and all hands are on deck.
What would you say the BON brand has done for you?
It has opened doors for me and created opportunities for us to add to the nation’s economy by helping Nollywood to grow.
