Big Brother Africa 2012 winner Uti Nwachukwu explains why he celebrated 30 with widows

Big Brother Africa 2012 winner, Uti Nwachukwu celebrated his 30th birthday with widows on Friday, August 3, 2012. In this interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, the handsome young millionaire (courtesy of his star cash prize from BBA) said that he chose to show love to widows because his mother was widowed while he was in Big Brother Africa House in 2012 and much more.

Congratulations on your birthday.

Thank you very much.

How does it feel to be 30?

It feels great. All of a sudden, I feel very comfortable. I don’t know why. I have grown so much over the years. My 20s was filled with experiences. I learnt a lot about life and human beings, I also lost a lot and gain so much at the same time.

My 20s made me the man that I am today. If I can think back at my 20s, a lot happened. I do not regret anything or detest anything because all the experiences put together made me the great man that I am today.

I have come to a point where I really don’t care how I am perceived or what people say or think about me. I have also come to a point where I do not have to please anybody unless it is a sacrifice that I am rendering. I am ready for any challenge because there is nothing too big that God cannot handle. I have God on my side.

My spirituality really increased in my 20s. For some funny reasons I feel liberated especially when my friends said ‘Uti welcome to the 30s, it is better than your 20s”. I think my 30s will be synonymous with confidence and satisfaction.

How did you celebrate your birthday?

I went to see the widows with a few of my celebrity friends. I did that just to give credit to the widows and make them feel loved. I decided to do this because of my mom, who was widowed while I was in Big Brother House 2010.

Now, I know that widows need all the attention. The Bible says, “We should pay attention, we should not oppress the widows and we should always take care of them”. It is my personal advocacy. After that, my fan club prepared a surprise bash, two in Lagos, three in Abuja and one in Port Harcourt because people appreciate me so, who am I to say no.

What would you say is your greatest achievement?

That’s a big one. Obviously my greatest achievement has been BBA. I am proud to be the all star winner and with the victory of BBA, my life as been better because I am in a world of my own right now. Its blissful, perfect, more comfortable and secured. It turned everything around for me.

As you clock 30, what are your plans?

To take all that I have learnt in my 20s and maximize and exploit them. I am definitely going to get married in my 30s. I do not know when but it is going to happen in my 30s.

What is the greatest lesson life has taught you?

Nothing really matters apart from God and family because in the end, as long as you please God, and your family is happy with you, nothing else matters. Most people live false life. You will find out that they are just too irrelevant and life is too short to bother yourself about certain things that are said.

At the end of the day, the people that would stand by you are your family members. Some of us are very blessed to have one or two friends who would be there for us. But God, of course will always be there for you even when your you are not strong in prayers.

Even though favour is not fair, mercy is not fair, God still chooses those he blesses and I am happy to be among the lucky ones.

How does it feel to be among Nigeria’s young millionaires?

It is nothing special, being a millionaire is just a title. I will feel very great when I started employing people. As of now, I have started to make a difference in people, to God be the glory but I want to touch them on a greater level and make sure they are better.

I want to provide jobs for people. I want to make a difference, do things the right way and set an example for people to follow.

Describe  your kind of woman?

I want someone who is God fearing, she must have a sense of humour, very patient. She has to be effortlessly sexy, beautiful, both on the inside and outside. She has to be able to compliment me when I am loosing it, she has to be very homely, she has to love the arts because that is my profession and to love every part of me both my flaws and my positive side.

Can you tell us about the woman rocking your world now?

That is totally private but she has most of these qualities I just mentioned. But if God says I should settle down with her, I will but if not, I will move on.

Rumour has it that Uti is gay, how do you react to that?

It is a very dumb thing to say that. I have decided to let people entertain their small minds. So, if they feel to amuse their ‘little brains’ well they should. The good thing is that my God, family and some of my good friends know me and those are the people that I am indebted to.

In fact, wise word has it that ‘Don’t bother giving an explanation’ because your enemies won’t still believe it. Your true friends and loved ones don’t even need it because they already know you. Let people believe whatever they want to satisfy their little minds.

Would you say you are living your dream?

I am obviously living my dream because people that know my past know that I have always wanted to love like this. Although, people laughed at my dream when I was younger. So, these same people come to me now and say you have inspired me to be whatever I wanted to be. I am living my dreams to the hilt.

Aside Jara, do you still model?

Of course, I do, I am very hard working. I model, I am an actor, I have a couple of movies coming out, one is going to be premiered this month. I just wrapped up a movie entitled Deep Inside starring Omoni Oboli and Zack Orji.

I have also signed on to a couple of movies this year. I also do MC (master of ceremony). This is me, I am all about the arts, I don’t limit myself.

Do you still have some of your BBA cash prize?

I don’t know if it is still remaining. All I know is I am a hard worker and I still make a living. I do not sleep because I work hard and I would rest when I am 65.

How did you spend the cash prize?

I helped people, I made myself a lot more comfortable. But there are some investments.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for inspiring, motivating and allowing God to use me to make people. I just know that God created me to be in the arts. I give motivational talks out there. My life is my motivation.

Any final word?

Eat, sleep, pray, work and most importantly, love.
