FROM Child Actor of the Year (Olamide Davids) to Actor in Leading Role (English) Tope Tedela, Director of the Year, Desmond Elliot, Producer of Apaye (the Movie of the Year) Emem Isong and Nollywood veterans decorated with Lifetime Achievement Awards, winners of Best of Nollywood Awards, 2014, are ecstatic, joyous and elated by their prizes and well-deserved recognition.

Here are what some of them said at BON Awards held at the State Banquet Hall, Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Thursday, October 16, 2014.

 

‘I won my last major awards 19 years ago’ -Ayo Adesanya, Best Supporting Actress

“I won my last major awards 19 years ago. I really appreciate this award. And I thank BON the cast and crew of Sanbe and my fans for their support.”

 

‘I’m happy Apaye won again’ -Emem Isong, Best Cinematography award winner

“This is another win for the multiple award-winning Apaye. I thank His Excellency, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi, organizers of BON, the cast and crew of Apaye, especially my director, Desmond Elliot. We all did it together.”

 

‘I appreciate this award’ – Yinka Quadri, Actor in Leading Role (Yoruba)

“I am overwhelmed by this award. I dedicate it to my fans and those who truly appreciate my works. May Almighty God bless all of you. I thank my fellow actors here present. I do sincerely appreciate this award.”

 

‘I’m deeply humbled by God’s mercies’ – Tope Tedela, Actor in Leading Role (English)

“Waoh, I’m deeply humbled by God’s mercies. I’m really grateful for this award.”

 

‘I will always love Nollywood’ – Desmond Elliot, Director of the Year

“This award was not expected, but I thank BON for adjudging me the best in directing, courtesy of Apaye. This means a lot to me, I tell you wherever I am, I will always love Nollywood. I will make sure Nollywood grows. I didn’t come here to talk politics, anyway (laughs).”

 

‘Thank God, I won at last’ – Olamide Davids, Best Child Actor

“I have been nominated in several awards which I lost, but I thank God for winning BON. I dedicate the award to my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Davids, my mentors and fans.”

 

‘Silence took a toll on us’ – Iyabo Ojo, Movie of the Year

“Producing the Movie of the Year, Silence took a toll on all of us. But the fact it won best Nigerian movie for the year 2014 is good news. And we really appreciate this special award.”

 

‘I received the news as pleasant surprise’ – Queen Nwokoye, Actress in Leading Role (Igbo)

“I received the news of emerging BON Actress of the Year as a pleasant surprise. Onye Ozi, the award winning Igbo movie is a quality and socially relevant production. I thank BON, my fans and importantly the producers of the movie.”

 

‘Kudos to my producer, Obi Emelonye’ – Okey Bakassi, Actor in Leading Role (Igbo)

“Ndeewo nu o (greetings), this award is sweet. I really appreciate it. All the credit, however, goes to the producer, Obi Emelonye who brought us to the project. I also thank my people.”

 

‘Film making is my life’ -Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Lifetime Achievement Award

“This special recognition assures me I’m on the right track. And I won’t stop film making. This is my life. I thank Nigerians for their love and support.”

 

‘I still love Nollywood’ -Liz Benson, Lifetime Achievement Award

“Though I no longer shoot commercial films, I’m still indirectly changing lives from the pulpit. I still love Nollywood. If I don’t love the industry I wouldn’t have come for this award. We are all praying for Nollywood. And it shall be well with our actors, actresses and all production hands.”
