Britain experiences hottest July 1, temperature soars to 36C

BRITAIN is on a heat wave alert today (Wednesday, July 1, 2015), with forecasters predicting it will be the hottest July 1 in 165 years. Temperature could rise from 36 C compared with 30.4C yesterday.

Commuters are warned to carry water along with them after an incident occurred today at Wimbledon where 123 sweltering tennis fans fainted due to the scorching sun.

“There has been a restriction all over the country due to the hot weather, thereby creating a delay in the rail network because there would be reduction in speed which is needed in case train tracks buckle in heat,” a spokesman said.  We apologise to passengers but the restrictions are in place to minimise disruption.”
