Buhari accepts Saraki, Dogara as Senate President and Speaker

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Femi Adesina  has confirmed he actually issued a statement, saying he (Buhari) has accepted  the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Hon. Yakubu Dogara as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Adesina confirmed this when encomium.ng called him in the evening of Tuesday, June 9,2014:

“lt’s true, I issued it (the statement)”.
In a statement this evening, the Presidential Spokesman stated that Buhari was in support of the controversial election of the leaders of the National Assembly, though it was against the directive of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

“President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the Senate and the House of Representatives, and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected. That sentiment still stands. Though he would have preferred the new leaders to have emerged through the process established by the party,” the statement said.
