Buhari sacks Lamorde, appoints Magu as EFCC chairman

On Monday, November 9, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari relieved Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Ibrahim Lamorde as chairman, and appointed Ibrahim Mustafa Magu in acting capacity.

In a statement signed by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), he maintained that Lamorde is proceeding on terminal leave ahead of his formal expiration of his tenure in February 2016.

Lamorde is accused of misapplying N1 trillion of recovered funds, and he’s expected to face the Senate tomorrow to explain the alleged malfeasance.
