Burka-clad robbers jailed for 58 years for stealing £1.5 million

Five members of a gang of Burkas-wearing robbers were today (August 19) jailed for a total of 58 years after stealing £1.5 million in a Selfridges smash-and-grab jewelry raid.

The gang, armed with axes and sledgehammers, smashed display cabinets and threatened staff as well as customers, before snatching expensive designer watches.

Relatives of the gang members broke down in tears as Judge Nicholas Jones handed down sentences ranging from eight to 15 years in jail at Kingston Crown Court.
