Busted! British woman who stole cancer hospital money to fund lavish wedding jailed

An NHS (National Health Service) worker who stole hundreds of thousands of pounds from London’s Royal Marsden cancer hospital to fund her extravagant wedding and buy designer handbags was, today (July 29), jailed for four years.

Stacey Tipler (32), exploited her job in the accounts department at the hospital and orchestrated a scam that resulted in more than £642,000 missing from the hospital’s funds.

She diverted payments to drugs companies and transferred them into accounts controlled by a gang recruited by her fiancé, Scott Chaplin – who has been sentenced to a five-and-a-half year jail term.

The couple, who have been together for 16 years, used the money to pay their mortgage, put down a £3,000 deposit for their wedding, and pay off debts, while their associates spent thousands on luxury items including Gucci and Louis Vuitton items as well as Apple gadgets.

The fraud was described as potentially “catastrophic for patients” after a drugs company  threatened to stop supplying drugs because of non-payment.
