French satirical newspaper, Charlie Hebdo’s cartoonist broke down on Monday (January 12) as he explained his reasons for drawing the Prophet Muhammad on Tuesday’s (January 13) controversial front cover.
The image depicts the Islamic Prophet shedding a single tear and holding a sign which declares: ‘Je Suis Charlie’ (I am Charlie) on the cover of the Paris-based newspaper which was attacked by Islamic militants on January 7.
During an emotional press conference, Renald ‘Luz’ Luzier, weeping repeatedly, said the image represented ‘just a little guy who’s crying’, before confirming: “Yes, it is Muhammad”.
