Cast tell all about Shuga series adventure (1)

‘It is overwhelming and incredible’ – TIWA SAVAGE (Sade)

Tiwa SavageWhat do you think about this season of Shuga?

I’m so excited to be a part of this project. Working on Shuga has enlightened all of us on a number of societal issues that need to be out there. With this season premiering on a very significant day, December 1 which is Worlds Aids Day, I am sure Shuga will go a very long way in reaching to those people who have had no knowledge on sexual health, domestic violence and all the other issues addressed on the show.

How do you feel about your acting debut?

This is my first major role and it is overwhelming and incredible. I thought it was going to be difficult, to be honest, because it took me out of my comfort zone, but I worked with such an amazing team and cast. Biyi is incredible. To be under his direction is just a privilege.

Tell us a bit about the character you played, Sade.

Sade is a boss! Lol… She has many layers and as the series develops, you get to see the different layers. She starts off as really strict, hard and mean but she’s just a really caring mother of her son and she tends to be a bit lonely sometimes, as she doesn’t have a man which is quite sad in the series.

1-Tiwa Savage and Kachi Nnochiri in Shuga series 3Are there any similarities between Tiwa and Sade?

Not really. I tend to be a little more reserved off camera and she’s more in your face… like she shouts at the guys in the show, she’s more forceful but the maternal part of her is similar to me when it comes to looking after her son. People tell me I am a bit maternal, so we may share a few similarities.

What was it like preparing for this role?

I was very nervous in the beginning but it was cool. I had a lot of issues remembering my lines though so I kind of made them up. Everything went though, because the other members of cast helped a lot by prompting me and helping me along whenever I forgot anything.

Do you think you will be doing any more acting after this?

I would love to continue in this line… even if they call me back for season 4, I will definitely come back because I would love to develop this side of me because it is something I didn’t really want to venture into before. But now I’m into it and enjoying it.
