DECEMBER 6: ZAHRA BUHARI AND AHMED INDIMI

Daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari and Hajia Aisha, Zahra tied the knots with son of billionaire oil magnate, Mohammadu Indimi on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Abuja Central Mosque.

Ostentation and flamboyance took over the event, from the Central Mosque to State House. Dignitaries at the ceremony included former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, among others.

The couple proceeded to Saudi Arabia for their honeymoon. It was the most talked about wedding of 2016.

 

2NOVEMBER 5: SIDIKAT ADETONA AND OLANREWAJU OLADIRAN

The daughter of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Sidikat Motunraye Adetona, tied the knot with Olanrewaju Oladiran on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Ijebu Ode. Prominent guests in attendance were Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and a host of others.

Daughter of former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Zara Fatima Shagari, tied the knots with Faisal Abduullahi on Friday, July 29, 2016, at the An Noar Mosque, Wuse II, Abuja in a three day wedding extravaganza.

Prominent individuals at the event were former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Kano State governor and Senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, among others. A-list indigenous rapper,  Olamide and comedian Bovi gave electrifying performances.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo’s son, Saleh Abdu Lukat tied the knots with Nana Asmau Mukhtar Shagari, the granddaughter of former Nigerian President, Shehu Shagari on December 26, 2016 in Abuja. Guests that graced the event were former First Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, wife of former Benue State governor, Mrs. Yemisi Suswam, wife of former Vice President, Mrs. Aminat Sambo and Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

Though the wedding was quiet, Nollywood adorable actress, Funke Akindele tied the knots with her heartthrob, Abdul Rasheed Bello, popularly known as JJC Skillz on August 23, 2016 in London, United Kingdom.

The wedding was attended by immediate family members and very close associates.

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, tied the knot with Sa’Adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa.

The day was exciting as colours of the rainbow glowed and sparkled with different native attires painting the arena joyous. She is the fourth wife of the Emir.  The beautiful and colourful union held inside the Lamido’s Yola palace.

Daughter of Esama of Benin, Orobosa Sa’adiyyah Igbinedion married her heartthrob, Umar-Ibrahim Mantu, son of former Deputy Senate President, on October 9, 2016. The colourful wedding spanned for a week cutting across different cities and countries. From Benin City to Abuja and finally, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Notable people at the event were former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.
