We asked some of our music and movie stars and top celebrities how they are spending this Easter as well as what the season means to them.
And here are their take on the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
HON. OMOWUNMI OLATUNJI-EDET, Politician
I do not celebrate Easter per se. I celebrate Christ. For those of us the Pentecostal, it is a time for us to celebrate the death and ascension of Jesus Christ. I am one person that used this period to rededicate my life to Him (Christ). I spend it in God’s presence. I don’t go out. Although I go to church, I spend more time at home to swim in His presence.
Every Easter is memorable because it reminds me of the death and ascension of Jesus Christ. So, every Easter is significant to me. There is no special Easter.
Every Easter means the same thing. It is the same message. It gives the assurance that Christ will come again to His own. It is the same thing to me. I just bless God that I have Christ in me.
NIKKI LAOYE, Artiste
I will be spending Easter with my hubby and family. I will also be performing at events as well. Most memorable Easter was last year. I released the Headies Awards winning song, Only You during Easter and the song trended worldwide. It was on everyone’s lips. It really made that holiday special for me. Easter reminds me of how blessed I am to have Jesus in my corner. The best friend who would do anything for me, even when I am not at my best. Nobody like Him in my life.
IBINABO FIBERESIMA, AGN President
It’s a time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. It is a time when I get together with my family and go on a holiday. Right now, I am celebrating Easter with my children in Orlando, Florida, USA.
We are visiting Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Wet N Wild and many more. This year has been my favourite Easter so far. Eating lots of Easter eggs and chocolates.
DJ GOSPORELLA, Disc Jockey
I am having my annual event, DJ Gosporella Family Funfest, a three day programme. An event for the whole family. Everything that will make the family happy.
I have grown. I will say the very first Gosporella Family Funfest I had. It fell on my birthday, April 8. I was given an award. It was a very good thing, that was in 2010.
We are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It should remind us of the Almightiness of God. It should remind us that there is nothing God cannot do.
EAZY LIZZY, Artiste
Easter is a Christian festival and celebration of Jesus Christ’s resurrection on the third day of His crucifixion. I have a couple of laid down programmes for the period. So, sure it’s going to be a very busy Easter this time around going by the nature of my job.
Each Easter has always come with its uniqueness so also this year’s Easter is going to be very lovely and perhaps the most memorable.
ALEX OKOROJI, Actress
Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a period that reiterates what real genuine love is all about and how God is the true foundation of the events and purpose for which He sacrificed His son for our salvation.
I am going to be spending Easter with my family. I have nothing planned yet. But having them hale and hearty with me is special enough.
My most memorable Easter was probably 17 years ago. I was rather a teenager but I remember visiting my father’s village and all my cousins (we are very large family) and second cousins came visiting from the U.S. It was a huge family get-together for weeks. Just eating, playing pranks, and just enjoying one another’s company.
HON. FUNMI TEJUOSO, Politician
Easter is the celebration of our love for Christ. Easter celebration this year will be a bit difficult for those of us in APC because, we are working. Maybe after the congress, I will find time to celebrate with my family and friends.
To me, all Easter celebrations are special in their different ways. I spend Easter with my family. It is a time to spend quality time with the people that you love. I think the most memorable one should be last year when all my children were able to come together because it is not every Easter that they are able to come together because of their studies.
I will be working this Easter, doing shows within and outside Lagos. I cannot remember any Easter that stands out for now because I am always working. It is a working period, not so much fun for me.
Easter is a season we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
IYABO OJO, Actress
To me, it means appreciating Christ for His grace and mercy upon our lives. I will be taking my kids to the US and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. All the Easters I had ever celebrated could be said to be memorable but this one, I am sure will be the most memorable.
I will be at Ibadan for a show and also enjoy myself there. I don’t have most memorable Easter celebration because all have been enjoyable. I am always at different shows performing and enjoying myself.
Easter is all about sacrifice, forgiveness and grace. It is a reminder of the complete goodness and love of God for mankind. I will be celebrating this year’s Easter with my family, I mean my mom, dad and brother, now that I am around in Nigeria. We will all pray and then celebrate together.
My most memorable Easter will be the one around the same time as my mother’s birthday and it is memorable because the whole house was filled with lots of family members and visitors and there was a lot to eat and drink.
ESTHER ILOEGBEN, Designer
I will be busy preparing for my fashion show. So, I will be very busy during Easter. I cannot pinpoint one now. It is time to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
BABATUNDE ANJORIN, Designer
It is a period of sober reflection. To reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus. I am going to celebrate with my family. I came back from the United States of America last week for the holiday.
I have always had fun during Easter.
I will just be at Easter shows performing. I can’t really remember my most memorable Easter because all have been good. I am always at shows doing what I know how to do best.
Easter reminds me of God’s love for me because He sacrificed His only begotten son for me. I try as much as I can to be very close to God especially during this lenten period.
I can’t really remember my most memorable Easter.
JOHN NJAMAH, Actor
Over the years, it’s been difficult planning Easter. Besides the normal family gathering, each time I try planning my Easter, I find myself planning my birthday instead which falls on April 17th.
I can’t tell because every year comes with its own challenges and peculiarity and so, I approach Easter from a different perceptive each year. One thing is, it is always fun regardless.
SOUND SULTAN, Artiste
I would be in Ibadan for a shoot and would also try to create. Time for some of the gigs I have been invited for.
Every Easter is very special and memorable.
