Celebs on plans for the New Year (3)

It’s a new year, and everyone is hopeful that it will bring with it goodwill, favour and prosperity.

Celebrities are not left out; while they are grateful for what 2015 brought, they are making plans to make the year a good one.

ENCOMIUM Weekly spoke with a number of stars and they shared their plans for the new year…

MIDE  MARTINS, Actress

2015 was a successful year for me. I achieved a lot in terms of my career. I had a move premiere for Abike. That was the first time I had a movie premiere. I also produced a lot of movies and acted in a lot too. I was also able to achieve a lot of personal things and I thank God.

In 2016, I want to go higher and higher. I want to accomplish a lot in 2016. I also want to produce an English movie. I want to venture into English section of the movie industry and do a lot with it.

SAMKLEF, Producer

2015 was a good year for me. I would not say it was bad. I learnt a lot of lessons last year and I believe 2016 will be better.  2016 is going to be a busy year for me. I am going to do more good music and videos. I have been away for a long time and I am back and better now. I did lots of stuff last year and now I am going to release them, because all the while I was away, I learnt to understand people.

I will be back to what I used to do, I am going to shoot better videos.

DAMI-ANN ALABI, Actress

My career in 2015 was a major learning curve for me. I gained a lot of experience and opportunities to act in a couple of TV series, a movie called Desiree as well as TV show called Ladies Lounge which will start airing this year.

My 2016 has already started on a great note as I have a lot of projects lined up. I can’t wait to unravel them, and this will happen in due course. I am an entertainer, and this year, that’s all I will be doing throughout, God willing.

AYO MAKUN, comedian/actor

The success of my debut movie, 30 Days In Atlanta as the highest grossing movie in West Africa and also the attendant awards, are my highest moments for 2015. I did not have any low.

For 2016, we are working on consolidating on the successes of the past by exploring more creative avenues to satisfy the fans of the AY brand. We are currently concluding production of a more hilarious movie which will be released before the end of the year. This year, we plan to take the AY brand to more locations so as to satisfy the yearnings of fans of the AY brand across the globe.

IYABO OJO, Actress

My highpoint was that I was able to shoot the movie, Black Val and others. In 2015, I opened my other shop at Olowu in Allen, Lagos. My low was that I did not really make sales because piracy did not allow us. The industry is not smiling now, but we are trying.

There are a whole lot of things I want to do in 2016. I want to open my academy where I can help young ones discover their talents. I would organize monthly seminars, bring in actors and actresses to enlighten the young ones. I am also planning to release three movies which I am still working on. I want to expand my business and last, I want to make sure I shoot a movie in America, hopefully when I get sponsors.

There’s nothing new I want to add to my career than just to expand and make sure I shoot good movies.

MZ KISS, artiste

2015 was quite an amazing year for me. It was all work for me. I focused on building my brand, and I was able to put out my brand. The high point in the year was when I released Oremeta video. It got a lot of attention. 2016 is going to be the bomb. Last year was all work, this year we’ll make the money.

ADEKUNLE GOLD, Artiste

This year the plan is my album, it’s in the works. It will be released this year. 2015 was amazing for me. I won a lot of hearts and awards. I can’t talk so much about it yet.

ADUNNI ADEWALE, actress/model

The year 2015 was a very difficult and challenging year for me. Certain personal things I dealt with and having to find a balance with my career, motherhood and life in general, but I thank God. I survived it all. I can’t pinpoint the highs and lows of 2015 but I can say this, with life comes challenges, difficult times, pain, regrets and all sorts. The most important thing is the power from within to be able to bounce back on your feet. I don’t tend to give situations or should I say life situations (either good or bad) attention. I acknowledge situations and move on to the next.

Exactly why it’s my plan, my thought, my life. It isn’t for the world to know. But I will say this, whatever situation you find yourself, make it count. I can only strive for more positivity in my life.
