On Sunday, December 22, 2013, the sixth edition of ENCOMIUM’s White Gig was staged with top celebrities in attendance. Held at Yard 158, Plot 34, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, the high octane gig lived up to its billing as the classiest in the nation’s social calendar.
This how some of our high-heeled guests rated the event still on the lips of many.
It was very exceptional, wonderful and relaxing. In fact, I had a very nice time. It was a kind of atmosphere where people mingled, networked and enjoyed themselves. I can’t fault anything about the gig, it was a very mature event.
There was no much talk, people were just enjoying and relaxing. It was fun filled.
I really love the party because it gave celebrities a platform of rest and fun. It was so lovely. I don’t think there’s a place you didn’t do well. It’s so nice, we expect new ideas and innovations this year.
STEVE ONU (Yaw)
It is always bigger and better. The all white ensemble made celebrities and others look like angels. It was fun. The only thing was that there should always be a fixed date for the party because I noticed on that day, there was another event that clashed with ENCOMIUM White Gig. Apart from that, it was well packaged.
It was nice. I have attended the party a couple of times. In your guest list, I discovered a lot of celebrites were not in attendance this year.
DR. KENNY OGUNGBE
The 2013 White Gig was fresh and satisfying. The dinner, drinks and dance cannot be forgotten easily. To always live up to the expectations with new ideas day in day out.
Congratulations to Team ENCOMIUM on the successful hosting of the yearly thematic and high octane gig. I also loved the celebration of Nigeria’s one and only four time Grammy Awards nominee, Femi Kuti. It was great. Thank you for hosting us.
QUEEN AYO BALOGUN
You guys have always been wonderful. So, what else do you want me to say other than give you kudos? The only area of improvement in case of another time is that there should be enough ushers that will be leading the guests to their appropriate tables.
But to say the fact, the ambience was unique, the quality of entertainment was very good. The event was one in town. It was a quality show.
Your events are usually very fantastic. So, I wasn’t surprised with what I met on ground when I came. I was confused, I thought I was in another planet. The dress code alone made everything unique and wonderful. The quality of music was excellent.
Everything was in order. It was a well thought-out event. I have never been disappointed attending ENCOMIUM shows. I usually enjoy myself. Everything was in abundance. It was fun unlimited. You guys are wonderful. Keep it up.
KENNY SAINT BEST
It was a beautiful night. It was the first time it happened during Christmas. It set the tune for the celebration mood. It was a nice way to celebrate. Seeing everybody in white made that lingering memory come alive and you look forward to another white party soon. It was fun.
OYELOUN TWINS (The Xchange)
It was quite blissful. It came at the right time, though a lot of people did not turn out I guess because they had other engagements. The venue was perfect, the arrangement was also perfect. I had a nice time. I hope we will continue to have it. It was a platform to network. It united entertainers.
ENCOMIUM White Gig is always fun for me. So, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. There was enough to eat and drink. I think you should sustain your enviable tradition of inviting a lot of celebrities.
It was really fun and exciting. It’s a pity I couldn’t wait for the rest of the day. I didn’t know Femi would be getting an award. If I knew, he (Femi) would have won a white attire and we would have stayed longer. At the Shrine later that evening, Femi changed to a white attire and announced the award to the people just to appreciate the organiz-ers of the party.
Nothing really because I didn’t stay long.
It was a wonderful occasion. It’s fun all through. I really had a nice experience at the gig. It was well packaged. Everything was in order, including refreshments, drinks, music and all that.
In fact, the DJ was more than fantastic. The entertainment was superb. I really don’t have any complain at all. I couldn’t say this was lacking. So, everything was on point. Also, the fact that one of our own, Femi Kuti was honoured made the event very unique and more colourful.
It was fun. I enjoyed myself. It was a nice experience. I think artistes should be allowed to perform. We love to see some things different.
Your boss is a good planner. Your event is usually well packaged. I pray God will continue to move the company forward so that you can do better in all aspects. You have done really well, and I hope the next one is going to be better.
MRS. KEMI OTEGBADE
It was okay as usual. The party did not fall short of expectation. It presented a good networking opportunity for hard working business people. I enjoyed myself, danced and was able to network with a good calibre of business people.
To improve, ENCOMIUM should get better venue. I think the venue wasn’t as good as what we’ve had in the past in terms of ambience. The car park was very big and that was another good thing about the venue.
I feel, it is losing its grip. There used to be lots of actors and actresses, music artistes, movie producers and directors and so many other celebrities. The timing was also short. The only thing I saw was that, you need to reach out to people from many other endeavours.
IMELDA OSUJI (Madam Modesty)
ENCOMIUM parties are the best in the country. And the White Gig, series 6 was da bomb. With loads of celebrities and politicos on parade and so much to eat and drink, what else could we have asked for? I really had mad fun.
It can only get better, especially when you plan it early and stick to your date. All the same, the White Gig still leads by miles when compared with other events in Nigeria’s social calendar.
As usual, it got me in the party spirit. I was edgy until I was given access because you never can tell if the rules have changed. The ambience was heavenly, near immaculate and chilling. The décor was breathtaking and I loved the fact that guests were treated to a variety of drinks including champagne and canapés.
To me, what made the event different from the previous editions was the music and the presence of the hypeman to get people into the groove.
I love Femi Kuti’s award presentation segment anchored by his sister, Yeni. It came with a lot of drama. The White Gig was an opportunity to interact, network and at the same time, let off guard and dance all night long.
On improvement, strict adherence to the rules of the party makes it tick. It simply says white but some guests broke the rule. Besides, more celebs’ presence would have made the difference.
The White Gig is a gig. When you are to choose the best gig you love to attend, I will always choose the White Gig. Except ENCOMIUM wants to start sharing money or gift packs. Everything was available.
Though I did not stay too long at the event, I can still say it was fantastic. The White Gig is an event everyone always look forward to every year. So, I think it was great.
This edition was better than the previous one. The event is always improving. We all know KB, he knows his onions, a man of style. Expectations are always high when ENCOMIUM stages an event. I know that since it’s always getting better, the next one will even be better.
ENCOMIUM White Gig is no doubt the biggest party in town. And like you saw, I really enjoyed myself. I had fun. We are expecting a bigger gig in 2014.
HADIZA YADOO-ZAAKI AZZAY
Wow, White Gig was fun and I think every year is getting better. I also think you people are giving us more fun and surprise each year. So, no need of improvement.
It was nice. I had fun. I enjoyed myself, though a lot of people did not turn out. The crowd was not much, I guess because it took place during Christmas.
I have always enjoyed ENCOMIUM White Gig, series 6 was no exception. I can’t think of any at all.
