-Details of their April 9 superlative nuptials
The rollercoaster nuptials of Chioma Okonkwo and Eze Amuchie – on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Our Saviour’s Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan and Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island (both in Lagos) – is still on the lips of many…in spite of the couple’s honeymoon to Honolulu, Hawaii (USA) where they are catching their breaths after a wondrous event.
The star-studded union, which had the governors of Lagos (Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode) and Akwa Ibom (Mr. Udom Emmanuel) in attendance, alongside many past governors and big wigs paraded many heart thumping episodes.
Said to have cost scores of millions, the event had on its bill first rate entertainers, choice drinks and food, apart from the assemblage of Nigeria’s movers and shakers and quite a chunk of billionaires.
Anchored by the fast-rising comedian, Ushbebe and Nollywood giant Kanayo O. Kanayo, the reception was chaired by former chairman of Hallmark Bank, Sir Marc Wabara.
Arriving the occasion in a majestic white vintage Rolls Royce Silver Seraph (owned by the bride’s elder brother, Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo, OFR), the couple was lucky to have more than six Anglican bishops officiating.
Many guests can’t get over the array of drinks at their beck and call. Ekulo Group (known as leading marketers of some of the best drinks this side of the Sahara),mid-wived an endless flow of Laurent Perrier champagne. All the variants – Laurent Perrier Grand Siecle, Laurent Perrier Cuvee Rose Brut, Laurent Perrier Demi Sec and Laurent Perrier Brut – were for the askng.
So were spirits – Courvoisier cognac (XO, VSOP and VS) and Jim Beam bourbon whiskey.
Whiskey lovers had a ball at the stand of Jim Beam bourbon.
Some of the mementoes guests went home with at the wedding of Chioma Okonkwo (a manager at Ekulo Wine Store in Victoria Island) and Eze Amuchie (a real estate entrepreneur) included rechargeable lanterns and kitchen ware.
All the guests had a pack of Meditol antiseptic and medicated soaps in their goodie bag.
The groom’s brother, Stanley Amuchie (Chief Finance Officer at Zenith Bank) attracted some banking big boys.
And Sir Emma Bishop Okonkwo was supported by his billionaire friends as well as politicos.
The Olowo Eko Omo Erin J’ogun Ola of Lagos, Oba RIlwan Akiolu, a friend of Sir Emma, had a rollicking time at the wedding. He danced to Fuji music to the admiration of all.
Guests also enjoyed the music of Phyno, the Igbo rap artiste adored by legions. There was a popular brass band for effect.
