INDEFATIGABLE Nigerian dancer and world record holder, Kafayat Shafau, popularly known as Kaffy, on Sunday, July 29, 2012, got visiting Arsenal FC of England trio of Bacary Sayna, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski to dance Azonto during the official launch of Malta Guinness Low Sugar Workout Session at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

You led the work out session with Arsenal players during the launch of the Malta Guinness Low Sugar…
I felt great. It was awesome and fantastic. I am glad not because they pulled it off due to their fitness but because they enjoyed it. That was where my fulfillment came from. I am happy that they had fun. They even acted funny and expressed their joy. And for me, that was success.
Would you say you are really fulfilled?
Of course, I am really delighted and fulfilled. That was a world class experience. It’s not every day you have the opportunity of rubbing shoulders with world class players and even teaching them dance steps. It’s a rare opportunity to meet world class people and be the one to even teach them. I really thank God for that.
How would you describe life after marriage?
It has been great. We are pushing up. The only thing is I have a family now. Whatever I do or work for now, gets back to something. It’s no longer about me alone. It’s now about me and someone else. That’s the major difference. I feel more fulfilled, I now care for something beyond myself. The love I have always longed to give to someone is now there.
What would you say has changed about you?
Nothing has really changed. I am still myself.
Has it affected your career?
No, it has not.
Would you say marriage has been a blessing or a curse in relation to your kind of work?
It has really been a great blessing, that’s the truth.
What has been the pains and gains so far?
There is always pain and gain in all endeavours. You can now sit down and tabulate what it was. But every great thing has its challenges.
How would you describe life as a mother?
It is really enjoyable. It has been ecstatic. It made me feel more responsible.
Do you still have that energy and drive on stage?
Of course, I do. You witnessed it on stage during my performance. I am working myself hard, I don’t have a choice.
Between marriage and career, which comes first?
My family comes first. And they support my career. It doesn’t feel like one is struggling for the other. It’s cool.
