THE wedding ceremony between Bella Adenuga and Jameel Disu continued with a flamboyant engagement ceremony on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the British International School, Oniru Estate, Lagos.  A strictly pink ensemble-affair with 100 per cent compliance.  The bride and the groom as well as their parents also shone in the colour.

JAMEEL DISU’S INTIMATE SECRET

Not many are in the know of some important secrets about this young lad rocking the world of delectable Bella Adenuga.  First, his real name at birth is Jamiu Disu, born to Mr. Tajudeen and Mrs. Modupe Disu.  Most of his growing up days is spent in Surulere, Lagos.  In fact, those in that part of Lagos know him as the grandson of the famous Disu who was said to be very rich and well connected.  Educated in Nigeria and abroad, some of his siblings are very much residence in Surulere, where he grew up.  As at the time he started growing up that was when he funkified his name to Jameel Disu.

 

BELLA’S OTHER PRIVATE SECRET

Dashing and irresistible Bella Ajoke Adenuga, has a figure even a saint will look at twice.  Born in London and educated in Nigeria and abroad, she was once celebrated as one of Nigeria’s eligible bachelorettes.  Her favourite colour is pink which is why she insisted on the colour for her engagement ceremony.  And if you want to attract her attention provide her hot and sizzling puff puff.

 

ABOUT THE GROOM’S MOTHER

Mrs. Modupe Disu, a thoroughbred Lagosian married to Mr. Tajudeen Disu for many years and still doing well maritally.  Well over 50, she is an executive director in Lagos State Examination Board.

 

THE ENGAGEMENT MATERIALS

Three Urvan buses conveyed the engagement materials to the British International School, Oniru Estate, Lagos for the ceremony.  Brought by the Disu family, there were loads of yams, water melon, sweets, biscuits, two well fed rams, etc.  These materials were in heavy baskets decorated with colourful wrapping sheets.

 

THE BRIDE PRICE

About 15 envelopes stashed with N1,000 naira new notes in N200 denomination were presented by the Disu to the Adenugas at the venue.  Some of these envelopes were shared among the siblings of Dr. Mike Adenuga.

 

HOW THE GROOM ARRIVED

The groom, Jameel Olutokunboh Disu stormed the engagement venue in four Range Rover Sport convoy, one of which belong to him, a black Range Rover Sport with registration number JD 99 XXX.  Gist however had it that the wonderful ride was acquired few days to the beginning of the marriage proceedings.  Other automobiles in the convoy included a cream Range Rover Sport with registration number BM 22 EPE, another black Range Rover Sport, PF 4080 SPY and a black Range Rover HX 50 AAA.

 

BELLA ADENUGA’S SECRET HIDEOUT

The delectable Bella had been on ground earlier before few invited guests started streaming into the BIS arena.  Her secret hideout was under a mini-size covered marquee specially created for her.  Fully air conditioned, and very close to the main tent, only an angel could notice that a soul occupy that enclave.  It was in the marquee that all her grooming and makeover was done.

 

READING OF THE MARRIAGE PROPOSAL

A long carved letter of intent provided by the Disus was what was read as the proposal.  The actor in the game was Afolashade Adenuga, one of the daughters of the billionaire owner of Globacom.

 

WHAT WAS MISSING IN THE LETTER

Two things were pointed out by the bride’s father, Dr. Mike Adenuga as missing in the Disu’s proposal letter.  One, his national award, CON and the Glo colour, lemon green.  These two things was quickly pointed out by the mogul himself who adorned an all-white agbada and a pink cap.

 

THE WEDDING BAND

Lest we forget, Bella is in serious love with diamond just as the case with every single ladies around town.  That was why their choice of the engagement ring was a diamond encrusted band.  The beautiful Glo director admired the ring said to have cost close to N200,000.

 

PINK BALL

The only difference between the afternoon engagement groove and a dinner was the pink traditional attires that shone like a million star inside the Balmoral tent.  No doubt, Genevieve’s annual Pink Ball will have to restrategise because a new record has been broken in that area.

 

MIKE ADENUGA AVOIDS PRAYER FOR JAMEEL DISU

What many expected was that after the groom’s parent finished praying for the couple, the bride’s parent will take over.  Surprisingly, Bella’s mum, Adefolake Marquis prayed for the groom, Jameel but the mogul craftily dodged that session and the programme continued.

 

AWUJALE PRAYS FOR THE COUPLE

“They will bear many children, I wish you good health and prosperity.  God bless the two families, we shall all come back to celebrate the arrival of a new born baby.”  This was the prayer said by the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona who led other royal fathers from Ijebu to the ceremony.

 

BELLA’S CANDID LOVE CONFESSION

“My husband, my one and only, the father of my children,” that was what the charming bride, Bella uttered when asked to comment on the kind of man in her world.

 

NIYI MAKANJUOLA, BASHEER ASHAFA ON THE GROOM’S MEN LIST

Without any doubt, these two men will appear on the groom’s men list at the white wedding proper.  Niyi Makanjuola, son of Caverton Helicopter’s Chief Remi Makanjuola who is said to be very close to Dr. Mike Adenuga.  On the other hand when Basheer, son of Engr. Gbenga Ashafa got married in 2009, Bella Adenuga was on the bride train but she simply opted out by not dressing up for the task.

 

MOJI ONABANJO’S FAVOURITE FOOD

Ms. Moji Onabanjo, former wife of Dr. Gbenga Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo enjoys salad to a fault.  This was because immediately the mother of two came into the arena, her first order was a plate of salad and choice wine to go with it.

 

BONIX LEADS IN ALL FRONTS

Supplying chilled and exotic drinks for big occasions has become the pastime of Bola’s Bonix Drinks.  Courteous and different in her services, the ebony skinned woman was at the occasion herself leading a team of hard working young men and women who ensured everyone inside and outside the main marquee got a taste of their chilled beers, soft drinks and wines.

 

POSH POTLIES, POSH INDEED

Mobile luxury rest rooms provided by one of the Laditi bothers was on duty at the event.  Three mobile rest rooms in different model equipped with air condition, leg flush handles, garbage chutes, automatic hands free faucets.  It’s as luxurious as a five-star hotel rest room.  We gathered the provider netted the contract for this facility in the region of a sum close to a million naira.

 

WHY JOURNALISTS WERE SHUT OUT

Media practitioners were shut out from the Adenuga/Disu four-day wedding extravaganza.  Apart from the tight security at the entrance of the venue, the event planner, No Surprises’ Funmi Victor Okigbo made no provision for media men acting on the strict instruction of the chief host, Dr. Mike Adenuga.  But that apart, a magazine company we heard got a whopping N20 million to package an exclusive diary for the wedding.

 

EXOTIC WINES BY MALDESSA

Wines of all kinds were all over the place and courtesy of Magnus Esosa’s wine company, Maldessa.  The light-skinned dude even led his team to the venue and we heard he got a large chunk out of the N100 million budgetted for drinks.  Since some of the wines he provides were imported.
