Comedian Dan D’ Humorous on why he’s going into politics

Popular comedian, Daniel Chibuzor Nnwoka, also known as Dan D’ humorous is set for politics with the aim of improving capacity development among the youth.

ENCOMIUM Weekly had an interview with him on his foray into politics as he is set to go for House of Assembly representing Ikwerre Constituency in Rivers state.

We learn t you are going into politics?

Yes, it is true. I am contesting for River State House of Assembly.

What inform the your going into politics?

I don’t see politics as a vocation but a call to serve. The passion has been in me to serve my people. It is an opportunity to improve a lot of things which I think need attention.

Why starting with the House of Assembly?

I will be able to do a lot more if I start there. There are certain things that will be made right if I there. I have seen some particular needs I want to meet, I also believe in grassroots politics. I want to start from the grass roots.

Any pedigree in politics?

I ran for elective post in the university. I have been in various leadership positions, I think it is time to use my wealth of experience to serve my people.

Why is it coincidental that you and your mentor are going into politics together?

It is a happy co incident. When we sit together, we talk about the welfare of our people. I think what is boiling in me is also boiling in him. I didn’t even know on time that he too will contest. I think it is just coincidental, we didn’t plan it together.

Under which platform are you contesting?

I wouldn’t lie to you, three major political parties are already choked up. I will get my ticket from another party. I am about a new wine and new spirit, so I am going for a new party. When the time comes, I will make it known to all.

Who will sponsor your campaign and every other thing?

Just like every other thing I have achieved were done through planning, I will plan it. I also get money from what I do. I will plan with what I get from my profession. I believe, as times goes on, I will enjoy good will from people that want to support me. The kind of politics we preach is not money oriented, so, I wouldn’t be sharing money.

What will happen to your career then?

It is untouched. Some people went into politics and when they left the post, they returned to their vocation. Okey Bakassi is an example, he left comedy for politics and when he was done, he came back to comedy. If there is a need to come back, I will definitely do. Comedy is part of me, it is something I can be doing while I am there any way.

What is your agenda?

Education and economic development, I will focus on the primary, secondary and adult education, even the law I want to push is all about education, then, capacity development among the youth.

When are you starting your campaign?

Campaign begins 90 days to election, between the end of October and in November, we will kick off.

How popular are you in your area before embarking on this?

My political belief is based on challenging the status quo. I am not banking on my popularity though people know Daniel D’ Humorous but I will capitalize on my agenda. My work has given me much popularity. We will meet youths in our constituency. We will tell them our agenda so they can canvass for support for us.
