Contestants re-enact legendary superstars

…as Glo Dance with Peter gathers momentum

With the exit of three more housemates, the academy’s focus for the week was “Legendary Throwback” and the remaining 15 dancers were given the task of performing the dance steps of any music legend of their choice.

The housemates who had earlier been hinted by the judges on the need for creativity and careful adaptation to the chosen legends performed solo, and one after the other, they thrilled the audience with scintillating dance steps. While Paullete perfomed Cindy Loper’s Girls Just wanna have fun, Nekky performed Angelique Kidjo’s Agolo ,Messiah performed Boney M’s Daddy Cool and G-Xtreme performed Tina Turner’sWhat’s love got to do. Other contestants who performed are Da Octopus who re-enacted Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby, and C-Fly who did MC hammer’s Too legit to quit while Amazing Amy performed La Isla Bonita and MX  who did Bobby Brown’s My Prerogative.

The rest are T-Rubber who did Brenda Fassie’s Nguanoma, Teejay who did Brenda Fassie’s Vuhndlela, Julius Fakta who did Celine Dion’sThe Way It Is, Miracle who performed Diana Ross’ He lives in you and Kelvin who re-enacted James Brown’s Feel Good as well as Yemi who did James Brown’s It is a Man’s World.

The dancers performed creditably well, trying to out-dance one another to avoid eviction. Megbele crooner, Omawumi who was the guest judge during the show applauded T- Rubber’s performance saying, “T-Rubber, I just don’t know what it is that is in you. You really wowed metonight, you have a thumbs up from me”. Also another judge, Kaffy said she saw the efforts in Paulette’s performance but couldn’t just connect with her. “Paulette you are such a great dancer, but tonight I couldn’t see that link in spite of your energy and efforts”, she said.

On his part, show promoter Peter Okoye, Miracle’s performance was the highlight of the show. Miracle enacted the ‘Lion King’ with Diana Ross’ sound track He lives in You, costumed and made-up in a typical Lion outfit. ‘You killed it Miracle’, Peter said in a standing ovation.

The show had earlier been engulfed with mix feelings as three housemates, SoCrazy Cool, Weezy and MOD who recorded the lowest votes were evicted  while the trio of  Amazing Amy, Bobby B and Octopus who got the highest votes from the audience returned to the academy. The six dancers had earlier been put-up for eviction in last week’s edition of the show.

The judges, Peter Okoye of PSquare, Dance queen Kaffy, Dance choreographer, Don Flexx, and Omawumi, the guest Judge advised the evictees to see the ‘Dance with Peter’ show as a stepping stone for them and urged them to remain focused and consistent in achieving their dream.

The dancers on eviction list for the coming week include  Paulette (519), Nekky (530), Bobby Blankson (510), Teejay (516) and Yemy (525).
