-AS EKITI YOUTH, OTHERS REJECT IMPOSITION OF CANDIDATE

Massive criticisms have started trailing the adoption of deputy governor of Ekiti state, Associate Professor Kolapo Olubunmi Olusola by his boss, Ayodele Fayose, as the canditate of the state in 2018 governorship race in the state.

Since his adoption a couple of days back, many indigenes of the state, especially party supporters from other senatorial districts have been condemning the governor’s sole decision. They reportedly described it as undue imposition capable of destroying the party ahead the guber election which may in turn enhance the chances of the opposition party, All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state to win.

The Nationsl Publicity Secretary of PDP who is also an indigene of the state was reported to have faulted Fayose’s choice, describing it as a breach of electoral Act and party’s constitution. He therefore warned against any imposition of candidate by the governor on the people of Ekiti as that won’t be acceptable.

Corroborating Adeyeye’s submisdion, one of the youths, Babatunde Awoluyi from Ekiti north Senatorial District said, “The choice of Dr Kolapo Olusola as the flag bearer of PDP in 2018 governorship election is not only unacceptable to the people of Ekiti north Senatorial District but to majority of PDP youths in Ekiti. The governor unilaterally picked his deputy without even consulting the party hierarchy in the state. And as it’s now, he has closed the chance to other aspirants from even within Ikere where Olusola comes from let alone all others from other zones. If the issue is not addressed urgently, it may work against the party in 2018.”

Meanwhile, the protest or not, Governor Ayodele described his choice of his deputy as a direction by God and was optimistic that victory is sure in 2018 with the choice of Olusola.
