‘Budget has reduced drastically’ -ELOHOR AISIEN,  Prive

elizabeth elohor Will you say the economic situation of the country is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Yes, a lot of people are scaling down on their budget. Obviously, the dollar rate is high. People don’t travel outside the country in other to shop again for their wedding. Nigerians love parties, they will always have a party to attend. I had about three weddings last year that were shifted till the end of this year. We hope things will fall in place for them this year.

To what extent, can you explain?

Budget has reduced drastically. It is affecting service providers as well. They will want to cut off all our profits.

How have you been able to deliver quality services despite tight budget?

We are expanding to Europe and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We hope to meet the demand of our clients over there. We work with clients’ budget and we ensure we give them the best our company has on offer.

Yes, that is true. It is not just weddings but every other aspect of life. Gone were the days you see so much luxury at weddings. Though those who can afford it still go for it, it is just few people that do that now.

To what extent, can you explain?

People go for smaller budget now, at least half of what used to be the budget a couple of years back. Everybody is trying to cut cost. From budget, venue, to the luxury we used to see at weddings before. It is now the basics. Once they put up the basics, that is the end. That is why event venues do promo in other to woo more clients since patronage is low.

How have you been able to deliver quality services despite tight budget?

We are trying our best. We are finding a way round it. No matter how tight the budget is, we try as much as possible to give our clients quality services they deserve.

I will say, yes. Despite the economy, people will still get married. If you ask, will people spend the same amount they want to spend on their wedding, I will say no.

To what extent, can you explain?

They are cutting down on everything. The number of people they invite, the service providers they will patronise. They will go for the cheapest ones.

We don’t compromise quality. We charge certain amount and go beyond the call of duty. As a service provider, you just have to stick to quality.
