‘No budget is too small or too much’ -NDIDI OBIORA

Ndidi 1-Fullscreen capture 252016 13614 PMWill you say the economic situation is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Definitely, it is affecting everything. People are purging down their budgets. They are cutting down the size of their guests. Though people are getting married, it is done on a smaller scale now.

To what extent? Can you explain in terms of budget, number of guests?

Like I said, they are cutting down the size of their guests. When meeting with a client, after noting all things to be done, fixing a budget for it, the client may say, let us take this out, let us take that out. Instead of inviting an artiste, let us take a DJ.

How have you been able to deliver quality services despite the tight budget?

I tell my client that the number of guests will determine their budget. Your planner is like a medical doctor. You have to be open to the planner. We work with client’s budget. No budget is too small or too much. There are different ways of making things work. We are creative, we work with client’s budget. As long as the budget is reasonable, the number of  guests must be reasonable too.

‘People shift wedding now’ -CHINASA IBE

1-Chinasa Ibe IMG-20150920-WA011Will you say the economic situation is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Yes, it is practically affecting everything. It has reduced the number of weddings. People shift wedding now. I know of two clients who shifted their wedding till further notice.

To what extent? Can you explain in terms of budget, number of guests?

The number of guests at a wedding is not the same as it used to be. Some cut the number to half. Some forget the side attractions, no comedian, artiste to perform; just a DJ or a live band.

How have you been able to deliver quality service despite the tight budget?

In business, there should be consistency in whatever you do. You don’t compromise quality. Reducing the number of guests for an event should not affect the quality your clients will get.

‘Everybody is trying to cut cost’-ADENIKE TOIKUMO

1-Nike Toikumo IMG-20160130-WA005Will you say the economic situation is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Yes, in a way. Everybody is trying to cut cost. People usually have two days for a wedding before but now, it is a day for both traditional and church wedding.

To what extent? Can you explain in terms of budget, number of guests?

The number of guest has reduced as well. Even at that, it is strictly by invite. If you are not invited, no entrance. Some get security operatives to guard the entrance to prevent gate crashing.

How have you been able to deliver quality service despite the tight budget?

The main thing is not to step down your quality. You get different grade of vendors for your services. Get vendors that fit into your budget.

‘Most people are not doing anything elaborate again’ -IJEOMA MARK ABII

1-Ijeoma mark Abi IMG-20150917-WA005Will you say the economic situation is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Yes, it is affecting every aspect. For instance, most people are not doing anything elaborate again. Just few family members and friends will be invited to attend the wedding.

To what extent? Can you explain in terms of budget, number of guests?

Prices of everything has gone up. Instead of making small chops, they will rather go for chin chin. Instead of 500 guests, they cut it to 300. No more side attraction, everything is just on a small scale.

How have you been able to deliver quality service despite the tight budget?

We stick to what our client tell us to do. We have our name to protect. We make sure we don’t compromise on quality.

‘People these days will prefer planning themselves‘ -ADEBUSOLA KAZEEM

1-Adebusola kazeem IMG-20150905-WA004Will you say the economic situation is affecting the scaling of weddings?

Somehow, it has affected the number of guests invited for a wedding, it is affecting event planners as well.

To what extent? Can you explain in terms of budget, number of guests?

Those that still want a glamorous or society wedding still go for what they really want once the money is there. As event planners, it has really affected us because people these day will prefer planning themselves instead of hiring an event planner which makes the number of clients drop drastically, say from 10 to 4 clients.

How have you been able to deliver quality service despite the tight budget?

Delivering quality service despite the tight budget has been so technical because working through the budget has left us with little or no profit. You want to satisfy your client and also make the event a glamorous and memorable one. You have to stretch and stretch to balance up everything and give in the best.
