The widely publicised legal battle between popular artiste, Ashimi Olawale, known as Brymo, and his estranged boss and CEO of Chocolate City, Audu Makauri was adjourned till 2014.

Information available to ENCOMIUM Weekly revealed that the legal battle between music and entertainment company, Chocolate City Limited and popular musician, Ashimi ‘Brymo’ Olawale failed to come up on Thursday, December 5, 2013, as the presiding judge, Justice Bubba of the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division in Ikoyi didn’t sit. Thus, the case has been adjourned till 14, January 2014.

It was gathered that the record label represented at the court by Miss C.O Madubuko from L & A Legal Consultants are yet to serve Brymo the court papers. Thus, it wasn’t strange that Brymo was not represented at the court.

The legal battle which began on Monday, November 11, 2013, presided over by Justice Bubba was adjourned after Chocolate City’s lawyer, Miss C.O Madubuko appeared before the court without serving the defendant, Brymo, the court papers.

On Friday, December 6, 2013, we contacted Brymo and his publicist and manager, Lanre Lawal and they shed light on the issue.

“It’s becoming quite an embarrassment. It’s now obvious that all their moves have been to tarnish the image of Brymo and impede his musical growth. Imagine a whole lot of shows they have hijacked due to their falsehood. We didn’t go to court because till date they have not served us any paper. We are even ready to go to court now. That why we have issued a statement which read thus:

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This is to notify the general public that the artiste, Olawale Ashimi, popularly known Brymo is an independent artiste. He is not under contractual obligation with any record label or company.

The artiste is represented by The Bail Music Company in management capacity only.

Every media, business and other enquiries should be directed through The Bail Music Company; any individual or company claiming to represent Brymo is false, and fraudulent.

Please be advised.”

This was borne out of necessity as they have used every means to blackmail his career. We are open to reconciliation but they have been deceptive.”
