Creativity rules at Coke Studio Africa Episode 6

It was a night full of fun and excitement as the Coke Studio Season 2 artistes displayed creativity on stage while trilling viewers at home and the studio audience with a variety of hit songs from around the world.

For the first time since the season 2 started, episode 6 witnessed the return of Lilian Mbabazi from Uganda to Coke Studio Africa where she performed one of her hit songs, entitled African Jump Around alongside Nigeria kukere master, Iyanya. With strong beats from the band, and live performance very scarce these days, it was no surprise the performance got the entire studio audience grooving till the end.

The show started off with an amazing performance by two artistes, Victoria Kimani and Flavour, who performed one of Iyanya’s smash hits recorded in 2011, Nwa Baby. The two spiced up the performance with an 80s touch, as great noise rolled round the entire studio. The studio audience danced and sang heavily alongside the artistes throughout the performance.

Sharing what motivated them to infuse the 80s style into their performance, Victoria explained that it was inspired by ‘Nwa baby’ which was sampled from an original classic song from the 60s & 70s. According to her, they decided to be creative by getting the afros and incorporating the ideas into their fashion to make the performance real.

The night also saw freshest beat and sounds from the Tanzanian lady Shaa and Jackie Chandiru from Uganda when they the Unknown DJ to perform Shaa’s hit Sugua Gaga in a different style.

Other performances of the night were from Victoria Kimani, Rabbit and Jay A from Kenya, Flavour, Seyi Shay (Nigeria) and Marllen (Mozambique).

The night ended with a love song from Marllen and Rabbit Shay entitled, Nomakhanjani by Marllen.
